I dont know if your a postman or joe public or how much experience you have had of royal mail but im a seasoned postman who has had 20 years plus of shite in this business but ive stayed why
1 pension
2 pay

So when any one attacks any of the above listed i like others get rather pissed off

Oxon, do you realise that maybe the strike breakers are the VERY reason this is becoming a long drawn out affair??? If we where ALL OUT and by all i mean every single one of us, the point would be HAMMERED HOME quicker than i dont know what and this would of been a DONE DEAL before we needed this last 4 dayer FACT. its the trickle of spineless strike breakers going through the door that gives A&A the hope of to try and destroy the union, so while you strike breakers are sat there feeling all smug wanking over your full wage packet you might want to give that a thought You gutless turds.

I can't believe you are all discussing working to rule/HS! You all should be doing this anyway! What is the matter with workers who insist on handling and moving multiple pieces of equiptment. Lifting, tipping and carrying items the wrong way. Starting early, using cars. We deserve all the crap we get if this is the way we go on. The people up top must be laughing thier balls off at us. As for a striking, its the only leverage we have. It should be done to maximum effect and we shouldn't be doing docket to clear the backlogs.

When getting my H&S training I was told that it was a more powerful weapon than the IR Framework, because we have the law on our side. What an absolute load of cobblers. We can't get members to "do the job properly" whether it be on delivery, driving or in a mail centre. I constantly try to educate the membership, not necessarily to slow the job down, but to do it safely. I can't even get managers to enforce it, even through formal letters. Only this morning I hear of 3 posties rushing around like blue arsed flies, only to get into their own cars to perform their deliveries.
The only answer is through a united front against those who seek to exploit us. How we deal with our own short sighted members remains an eternal mystery.

I can't even get managers to enforce it you said
Yes you can
When getting my H&S training I was told that it was a more powerful weapon than the IR Framework, because we have the law on our side
If i gave you for example a sub machine gun which is a powerful weapon would you know how to use it proper
Probably not
Why because you need proper training ok you have learnt the basics and thats a good start
Everything you do is ruled by procedure stick to it and you cant go wrong
If managers cant or even wont enforce it put it in writing thats the start of the procedure
Then wait for a reply i suggest in your first letter you use wording to the effect of as this is such a serious matter i would appreciate a reply within the next 24 hrs
If you dont get a reply send another letter which has your managers name on it and his managers name on it also the Area safety reps name on it
Ok then you will have a catalogue of evidence if none of the above have helped sort the problem out then its time to bring in
the big boys the people who enforce by law but it rarely goes that far as when people realise you have a catalogue of evidence with there name on it they realise because they have a duty of care and if some one is put in danger or even badly injured/killed as a result of none compliance then its them who are held accountable
Result massive fines dissmissal even prison
Have a chat with the Area safety rep who will know the procedure inside out
As a rep yourself set up meetings with your boss to raise any concearns you or your members may have you should be given release time for this most things can usually be sorted by mutual agreement but take notes in these meeting and give your manager a copy just so he dosent forget what you have both said
Keep Up The Fight

Oh and you mention the sub machine gun, I was actually trained to use a SMG when I was weekend warrior in the T.A. but I don't suppose that part of a reps toolkit (if only). Going Postal anybody
