Postal deliveries in Crewe will be affected by Royal Mail walkout

Image

About 90 Royal Mail workers at Crewe walked out for three hours this morning in a dispute over allegations of bullying and harassment of staff.

The industrial action occurred at about 7am this morning and staff went back to work shortly before 10am.

Graham Bebbington, assistant branch secretary of the Communication Workers' Union, told the Chronicle: "For about 12 months now this bullying has been going on. The staff have been treated with no dignity or respect, there has been bullying and harassment by management and this morning there was an incident which was the final straw - the straw which broke the camel's back."

Mr Bebbington refused to be drawn on what that incident was but said workers had only returned to work after assurances from management there would be a full meeting with a Royal Mail director in attendance next week.

The walkout will affect postal services in Crewe and a large proportion of the public will have no delivery today.

Who cares ? Money is not an issue here.
After taking this crap for the last twelve months our colleagues at Crewe have had enough.

If classed as "Christmas period" they will lose 10% of bonus for each day of "unofficial action", which this was.
"official action" costs 3% per day.

Great to see Crewe posties having self-respect and standing up to RM management.
Hope this action helps other units suffering B&H stand firm and not be intimidated.

Can't say I am surprised there is only so much people can take, it took a walkout to get them to notice that there was anything wrong. wasn't Crewe one of the Mail Centre that was shut down, I presume they kept the Delivery Office.

Certainly feel if this new deal fails to address long standing problems of B&H, we will see this action replecated in many offices around the country.
