My manager told me RM are weighing up an offer from Nike, make of that what you will.

A question - if I were to buy my own proper walking shoes, and have an accident on delivery, am I still covered?

Mr Breslaw....NO! I emailed Magnum, and asked the same question,
They told me Id have to get the shoes...Shop bought Magnums, vetted by the RM Health and Safety dept.

Think that means its a Snowballs in Hells chance then?

I have worn my CAT trainers about 3 times but find they are dangerously slippy on tiles, wet slabs etc. So much more than my own trainers which I never have a problem with. Do they get grippier in time???

They do get a little grippier as the lugs level out but they also wear quickly so by the time you've learnt where to tread lightly, they're worn out again :d'oh!
Whereas.... the magnums are much grippier overall (but they can be treacherous especially on patterned concrete driveways with standing water).

edit - YDS trainers were ordered as RYQ3-X (where x = size you need) - speak to your DOM and see if they're in stock

It's much easier to clean dog s**t off of magnums than the trainers, especially when the trainer tread is still raised, I.e. in the first 3 weeks. Only thing is, the magnums seems a magnet for small stones and gravel and on average once a day I have to remove one to get a small stone out.

Doc Marten update: Ermmm...not good. Tab inside the heel, which is there to advertise the Air Ware logo thing, rubs. And the folded over ankle area - supposed to be glued down - wasnt in places. Bit of leather surgery seems to have solved this..for now. Thick Mammoth/Duct tape to line the inside cud improve them even more.
Additionally, the Heel Cup, that supports yer heels, rubs like Hell on the Achilles Tendon. 20 min walk led to blister, and this was with thick socks.

Grip: on wet muddy terrain, quite good..didnt let water from wet grass in so far, and wet stones seemed to be handled ok.

SO: Get some Dubbin, Neatsfoot oil or Mink oil to soften em up before using again.
Apparently, you can get good results if you saturate em and keep yer fingers - and toes - crossed.

Obviously NOT the Original Classic DM's but a Chinese copy/version.
Ok for free, but ill reserve judgement fully until they are broken in...or ive broken down, which ever is first.

Buy cheap, buy twice then, perhaps, RM?

Griggs have not made bulk quantities of standard footwear, including RM shoes and boots, in the UK for years. They only made their designer lines in Northampton. Not sure if they make anything there now.
