There could be disruption to Christmas post around Weston-super-Mare after workers voted to go on strike next week.
Postal staff say they're being set impossible targets and are then unfairly penalised when they fail.
Staff at the Royal Mail depot in Warne Road plan to go on strike on 5 December.
Royal Mail says it isn't asking workers in Somerset to do more than staff in other parts of the country.

Fair play to the Weston posties
most posties in other parts of the country tend to put up with the crap.....how long for though, who knows

PM dingo straight away, there's very little B&H or impossible workloads so these blokes at Crew and Weston must have made bad choices

You know as well as me though, royal mail are crafty barstewards..... they will consult with their lawyers and come back with...
" The official B&H procedure has not been followed, therefore we cannot take these allegations serious"
For fooks sake the only agreements they stick to is the ones that suit them when needed. Which postie in the right mind would submit a B&H form in knowing it could come back and bite them on the arse as a bad faith allegation

Well not exactly but he said that of the 100,000 delivery staff only 1000 had instituted proceedings which was a small number but any number was unacceptable but the new consultation of delivery staff would highlight it. I think it was in the new agreement forum.Lincox wrote:DVB can you tell me the thread where Dingo has said there is no evidence of institutional bullying please
"Now the simple fact is that there are 100 000 staff in deliveries and there is less than 1% of that figure that has taken out a B&H claim. That figure is still too high and needs to be resolved but let's be clear that not every office is the same. Whist there is regular complaints of B&H on here and it does exist there is outside a dispute under a 1000 regular posters on here. "
Which implies that it isn't a big problem when in fact it is endemic in delivery offices to a greater or lesser degree affecting individuals, groups and whole offices. The greater the ratio of part timers then the greater is the chance for this to occur.

Thanks DVB. I think Dingo and the PEC should also take note of the number of office disputes this year that have led to unofficial strike action or ballot for industrial action. The majority of which have been for b&h or workload issues which result in b&h.

how many offices have had gate meetings on this subject. are they also recorded or swept under the carpet too. most of these offices are not militant so something must be wrong with the way we work.

Re: Xmas post in Weston-super-Mare could be disrupted
No need to worry Martin there's going to be a survey of delivery offices to see if there are any problems and if they would be prepared to take action, having said that I thought we had a consultative ballot with a resounding yes followed by an IA ballot with a resounding yes which was the whole of the union - so are we to be a splinter group do you think? Or is it just another ploy to buy some more time for the chatterers.martin the green wrote:how many offices have had gate meetings on this subject. are they also recorded or swept under the carpet too. most of these offices are not militant so something must be wrong with the way we work.

That's how it feels when you know there's a problem and those in power who could change things do not perceive that there truly is a problem. Like the sword of Damocles it may never fall but the threat is real enough to many.
