Re: Explaining overtime using facts
Royal Mail still works on the assumption that posties still finish before their time, thanks to all the runners and early brigade, so everyone is expected to be the same. when it comes to overtime the argument about "can you book your break" often has different answers or seems to vary from week to week. it also makes the time sheets a bit strange saying you've left the building at 14.45 when its actually 14.15

Re: Explaining overtime using facts
For each walk you should have your model week details provided and in which week it was done + based upon the volume/or averaged on input mail through that period.
One would presume that RM would provide each relevant member with this detail as it should be to hand and not hidden somewhere.

These tools are for projecting work load for the office and not for beating people into submission. They should never be used for personel performance. You really need to get your rep on this.

Re: Explaining overtime using facts
the IWT sheet didnt last long in our office cos it is a load of bollocks. many arguments over it. like how can one person do 3 hours prep in 2. and how the feck can you do a '4.30' delivery in less than 4 hours. they come out with these times and figures an theyre a load of shite

Its all bollox.
You can have a frame with 6 D2D's and 5 sacks of packets, with 3 books of redirections plus come in at the NORMAL start time and have a meal relief and the thick DOM's think that you can finish the round in the same time as an early starter/runner with NO D2D'S 2 sacks of packets and 1 book of redirections who takes NO MEAL RELIEF

Explaining overtime...really?
Make them aware it's you doing them the favour and if any more explanation is asked for tell them to poke their overtime.
That's about all the facts an OPG needs to worry about, leave the IWT and all the other tools to the other tools.

Whats the official stance on this then, am I just able to say "I'm going to be x amount of time over" or "I can't complete so need assistance" and leave it there, even if the start moaning "you should finish in that time"?

Re: Explaining overtime using facts
The "official stance" is working over your time is VOLUNTARY.
You tell them how much time you will be working over. They manage the workload from that information.
If they want to argue, start moaning or debating model week figures just take enough work to fill your time and leave the rest for them to 'ANALyse'

Re: Explaining overtime using facts
WOBBLY, unless you've done the crystal ball reading course I fail to see how you can give any hard and fast idea of a finishing time ! ! ! A "Best Guess" is the only way to go which could be plus or minus 20 mins ? ? ? Better still, ask why you're being given so much ***t to deliverWOBBLY wrote: Whats the official stance on this then, am I just able to say "I'm going to be x amount of time over" or "I can't complete so need assistance" and leave it there, even if the start moaning "you should finish in that time"?
