Only the public doesn't seem to comprehend that when walking and working you don't notice the cold, and seem baffled that unlike them you are acclimatized to it rather than darting out in full winter gear to cash their giro and pick up some Carlsberg Special Brew and White Lightning.
You've got to laugh at the doughnuts wearing North Face jackets, scarves and hats just to walk the dog 100 yards down the road when it's 15c.
On topic, I wear Cat trainers all year round unless it's snowing, then I switch to boots. They're the most comfortable footwear I've had from RM. I get no soreness or pains whatsoever. Everyone is different though and what suits one may not suit another.
My gaffer said they were banned two weeks ago because they are slippy on paths & flats etc, he went around asking posties to order alternative footwear...

That makes the middle of November! Conflicting stories from the DIMs again !!!
Don't see what the issue is myself. A path that is wet in November is no less slippy than a path that is wet in July
I like and dislike the CAT trainers; in the dry they are light, comfortable and usually serve me well. However, the slightest hint of moisture and the slip-factor increases along with the chance of wet feet. At present when there's any moisture around I switch to the YDS trainers that I got a chance to trial - to put simply they are far superior. In really crap weather some boots get dusted down.
When we asked about obtaining more (YDS) we were told they weren't doing them, which came as a shock, but the above statements restore a little faith in the company getting the right tools for the job (no jokes about management please, lol). I'm a little peeved having just received some CAT trainers to find that the trialled trainers might be available, communication, pfftt..

Actually not true. In winter with a low sun/lack of sun many paths get a layer of green moss and mould which when wet becomes like walking on oil. In summer this dies off in the dry. Unless you live in the grey grim North.

People on some rounds have never heard of bleach or Jeyes fluid.
Just got my Doc Martens boots...quite stiff, and the class of finish inside the ankle leaves a bit to be desired.
These are the Chinese copy Doc's by the way. Not as good as the old Blighty Originals.
So its gonna be lots of dubbing, black polish, saddle soap and possibly duct tape in the seams to get em up to scratch.
Just hope the soles dont give me a Torvill and Dean "Ravels Bolero" workout in the wet.
Get the Magnums, they`re worn by the SAS you know, pretty apt as I`m always darting behind one van to another to avoid the DOM, slamming the van doors and shouting GO GO GO! and then driving full pelt down tight lanes. I haven`t blown any doors off yet!, but, I`ve ripped off my share of letterbox flaps...time to sign up me thinks...
lmao!!! yes the cat trainners aren't bad if only the tread would last more than a month! another pair! the dom cries, and I show him the lack of tread and he does that head shaking thing that they all do.but you havr to wonder who trials all this stuff and what feedback they get and if they listen?has anyone been able to order on line? does it work? whats the address?

My money is on your feet giving out before the boots do.
If you look at a £70 pair of docs in a store they are a much softer leather.
Rows of houses all bearing down on me........I can feel their blue hands touching me.......All these things in all positions.........All these things will one day take control..........
