Is this Christmas casual or "Year round casual"?

When are you going on holiday?

Here goes what I know.

We have had people go on holiday for a few (4,5 or 6) weeks, indeed I did it myself, but - inform Angard person who calls you in well before you leave that you will be on holiday and book a couple of weeks holiday in the middle of that time period. By a couple of weeks I mean at least a day a week but probably only about 5 hours - this helped people maintain AWR qualification. You may have to fight Angard payroll because after 6 week gap your pay is automatically reduced to minimum wage - even when you book holiday (which stops the 6 week count back) because payroll cannot cater for a 6 week gap that contains holiday weeks. One guy had to get the CWU involved to get AWR reinstated - took a few weeks "discussions". Get the person from the call centre who calls you in on side before you go - they maybe useful with your discussion with payroll. If you have 6 week gap you do lose AWR Qualification. When people have returned they seem to get straight back in and work.

On the other hand I am also aware of people who haven't worked for 28 days so Angard then lapsed their security clearance and they then had to redo security before they could get back in - so lost AWR qualification as security checks took them beyond 6 weeks. Also, some who went passed 28 days never get back in and eventually receive P45s.

The person that calls me for work explained that 28 day issues happen if there is no contact between Angard and the employee for 28 days or they are not aware of their unavailability for the 28 days. Found this part out when discussing holiday plans with person who call me in and I asked about people receiving P45s after not working for 28 days.
