Typically, they would give you a ring just hours before they need you to start.

They will often ring, according to demand / workload, ahead of start date.

If you are a Royal Mail Xmas casual you will usually start on the agreed date with the agreed shift, but you may be called in early. With Angard who control the "Year round casuals" it's as and when you are needed, rarely block booked in advance.

I was called for the training at the MDEC Stockport, "Angard" phoned me and they provided my shift schedule for 3 weeks (different from the one I have selected on the online application, which was full-time), when I got there I was told that I'm on the "spare" list...(??) I'm confused, I have sent 2 photos and all I have is a simple paper ID, what is that supposed to mean, am I going to be on call? BTW, I was told on the phone by an "Angard" member that "you got the job, we will just do your CRB check" without even completing my training.
I would be grateful if someone could explain me how the "casual data entry xmas" thing works, because I can't get any answers neither from the Royal Mail trainers nor Angard, at first they say I got the job, and suddenly I'm on the "spare" list, I don't get it...

Thank you :)
