But there is a clause, that allows that timeframe to be extended, if both sides agree to the extension. Something that very rarely happens. But Royal Mail DID agree to the recent extension, to extend the validity of the ballot mandate until 20th November.

And the ballot extension benefits who exactly? As I understand it there has to be a comprehensive list of those under IA instruction which would have changed since the original ballot and so I wouldn't put it past RM to challenge.

but progress or not we - the membership - want to make sure we are not being sold down the river again

the union needs to put up or shut up

no agreement tomorrow then we strike
no agreement tomorrow and no strike im out union look after myself better anyway

I am starting to think that way myself
So you think you can stop them on your own if they turn around and say they're removing your paid breaks, paid sick leave, cutting your pay, etc?

Going by the fight the CWU has shown over the last few days, weeks, months and years. It really is only a matter of time.

If Royal Mail decided tomorrow to withdraw sick pay, do you really believe the CWU could stop them?

Exactly.

As you stated it was "your" understanding dvbuk55. Therefore, even though the union called a strike date for Nov 4th, they must have been extremely close to a deal? This is what's worrying me and 10s of thousands of delivery workers around the UK.
Is there a deal for ALL or is there just a deal for London?
If TNT are delivering their own DSA in London why are posties in London earning over £5000+ a year more than the rest of the UK?
If Dave Ward is happy with a deal, then the rest of the UK, should be worried.

TNT are delivering in a growing but still small part of London.
The London weighting is to do with living expenses. TNT delivering in London doesn't alter the cost of living in the capital.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Incidentally, is there a map showing the London weighting areas? (is it based on where you live or where you work?)

It is based on where you work but I have no idea what is inner or outer London for the purposes of the weighting.

Inner London is about £100/week and outer is about £70/week.

yes i think i would be able to defend myself better than those in charge of cwu because for me what i know ,think and do is relevant to me and what i am doing and not what the two muppets in charge come up with on my behalf for the benefit of rm :thumbup :thumbup :thumbup

London Weighting is based on where you work. It came out of the civil service agreement. Inner London covers the area of 4 miles from Charles 2nd statue at Charring Cross . Outwr London is any office up to 16 miles from the Charles 2nd statue.

Lots of areas recieved a Differcult recruitment ans retention payment (DRAS) which is now known ar RRIS. Thay payment came about from the DRAS dispute in 1988 when Royal Mail wanting to end national pay bargaining.

London Weighting protects national pay bargaining.

Wow really London Weighting protects national pay bargaining, how does that work? I would have thought with the Eu opening the borders to all and sundry able to work in the UK recruitment would no longer be an issue.

Maybe I am wrong but I don't remember having this in 88. I would have thought It came in the 90s but remember you did have a lot of boxes on the old pay slip so might have missed it when I was wet behind the ears..
