Re: DINGO !
This always comes up. The vast majority of offices in London including a significant number of offices in South London have introduced revisions under BT2010. The remaining offices are going through the 6 step process.
No office in London is stuck in the 1990s they all do one delivery and they have had major revisions such as the single daily delivery and pay and Modd. However do we attempt to get the best from the national agreements you bet we do.
perhaps if your offices did likewise then you would not be so critical of others who do.

Re: DINGO !
Thanks for the information Dingo through this dispute. One problem I see in deliveries is that a lot are selfish and only bothered about how much time they can make. If they had stuck together done the job correctly : ie worked there hours no less no more, used the new tools then a lot of these revision would not of worked. Backed the rep to use the agreements already in place then like you say they could have revision on their terms like some of the London offices. One problem now is that some units are not allowed to start early or not take their break. So when mail peaks the job does not work and with office having to work to budget then the cracks begin to show. My view anyway probabley get shot down in flames but so what. Solidarity is strength :

Re: DINGO !
Rather strange post: of course, it is the fault of the many fragmented, diverse and/or smaller/isolated offices struggling to get the best out of the Agreements.
Perhaps there could be some help from those above on how to go about not being taken advantage of - that will probably be expecting too much because it seems it is every region, division and sections for themselves...
One person makes an uninformed comment and that constitutes being critical - talk about being defensive?
head shake

Nobody is disputing whether "London" has introduced revisions.dingo wrote:This always comes up. The vast majority of offices in London including a significant number of offices in South London have introduced revisions under BT2010. The remaining offices are going through the 6 step process.

But in order to maintain the high percentage of full timers you have to agree a high model week.( You I believe posted the breakdown of f/t to p/t by region.)
It cannot be otherwise unless you have a shedload of D2D every week (and again you posted the breakdown of D2D by area) and "London" isn't an area that does get a high number of D2D each week.
So if you have a high model week, you have lots of lapsing opportunities. Therefore "resourcing to workload" will effect those areas more than those with a high percentage of part-time staff and a low model week.
One area (yours) will have lots of lapsing over the year. The other areas will have lots of flexing up over the year.
And while you obviously try and get the best deals for your area, it shouldn't be done by going outside of national agreements. That simply destroys the union.
And I'll ask the question again - how many Divisional reps do you have in London compared to the 3 that cover Scotland and Northern Ireland. Also bear in mind that your offices are all pretty much the same (i.e - inner city) and don't have the variety of city/rural/distant island that S& NI deals with.
And how do you trial annualised hours? The trial would have to last for at least a year to have any validity.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

The only reason people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory.

Re: DINGO !
What's wrong with monthly pay? Millions of people on it and thousands in the Royal Mail too. I suppose you just have to be more sensible and budget accordingly. It was like the days when the money you used to be paid was in cash and know it is paid straight into your bank. Times change!thehappyones wrote:Yip,dingo it does come up all the time, good to know its

Re: DINGO !
If London keeps coming up then there must be some degree of truth in some of the subjects people talk about.
Even before I joined RM I heard about some posties saying that they do not want to be dragged into a disputes because of London militancy and refusal to modernise. Whilst a lot of the things might not be exactly as they are presented, I have no reservations in believing that there must be something going on that is almost different to what happens in the Shires...
Regarding monthly pay, there is quite a lot of mistakes made regarding wages as it is - and it will be even more compounded with having to wait a month to resolve things.
* For starters, not all offices in Delivery even have OT/docket sheets nor do they get anything signed off by managers like they do in most MCs.
** But I think a lot will not be able to cope with the budgetting...

Re: DINGO !
RM are not as keen on monthly pay as people would think, the potential savings aren't as large as they used to be with the majority of payroll functions carried out automatically and there is an argument that monthly pay makes overtime resourcing more difficult, after all who wants to work over on a wet and windy day for an hour's pay they might get back in 4 weeks time?

Re: DINGO !
Or Not! as the case with some delivery managers that try to undercut staff or hope people will have forgotten. One could end up waiting for OT for 7 weeks or morefishtank wrote:there is an argument that monthly pay makes overtime resourcing more difficult, after all who wants to work over on a wet and windy day for an hour's pay they might get back in 4 weeks time?

Re: DINGO !
Well our's aren't,ours are done by thieving ,lying, backstabbing managers who would steal the bread out of our kids mouths if it meant they got there bonus,so weekly is better for us to be able to check it.cloherty1976 wrote:Our wages are done by a postman and not management and it's been like that for years.. What do you believe happens that is different to the shires, apart from the obvious? also you have my sympathy in that before you joined RM " heard about some posties saying that they do not want to be dragged into a disputes because of London militancy and refusal to modernise" what a sad life you must havechrisj wrote:If London keeps coming up then there must be some degree of truth in some of the subjects people talk about.
