Involving Postmen in a social campaign

Post by Anneke.Lom »

I just want to check before getting anyone into trouble:

My client is currently sending out Christmas stockings to their clients. We want to offer postmen the opportunity to get involved by having a sticker on the front of the package saying that 'if the postman tweets a picture of themselves with the package (obviously no delivery address details visible) and say where it has passed through their hands to help deliver the gift, then they could win something.

I just want to check from a 'legal' point of view whether no one would get into trouble by participating before going ahead with this?

Thanks

Without an official approach to Royal Mail, and their endorsement of the scheme, it is possible that Posties could be disciplined and or dismissed under the Security of Mail sections of the Postal Act - and for Mail Centre staff as far as I know there is a ban on private cameras/mobile phones on the mail floor.

So my strong advice is to contact someone within Marketing or perhaps Moya Greene's office (our CEO) before proceeding.
