as far as many of us in delivery are concerned its time for a strike as we are being treated like mud. No agreement today-strike.

But you only call for strike action if you believe you can deliver it and if you think it will achieve something.

Why ballot the membership for strike action in the first place if they believed the aim was undeliverable and the achievement unattainable.

Firstly because the threat of industrial action is in itself a powerful tool, and secondly you won't know the strength of feeling for IA until you have asked the membership.

It would seem both ballots have led to concessions, but not enough to secure a deal.
I don't think the problems in deliveries will go away overnight. I don't think strike action will change that.
Far better to consolidate the gains we already have and let the delivery talks continue before, during and after xmas if need be.
Because even with strike action, those talks will continue.

exactly,if the delivery methods are the only sticking point then get the rest of the deal agreed and come back to the delivery methods,lets be honest even if the union and rm came to an agreement on the delivery methods would royal mail actually hold up their end of the deal anyway?
how many times have they moved the goalposts before after deals have been agreed.
they should get the rest of the deal done and out of the way,
and come back to the delivery points.

why would royal mail give us extra pay without agreeing the new dely methods?

Are we all falling into the same old pit of separating issues within the agreement just to obtain a quick fix on pay prior to Christmas. Surely above pay, deliveries prioritising on workload, management bullying, unfair duties has been the main topic of conversation on this forum over the past two years. Are we all now happy to divorce this from the current proceedings and hope that some diluted secondary review sometime in the new year will settle the most contentious issues holding back this company and providing a workplace where people can provide for their families without provocation and with a genuine will to create a successful company. My opinion is that we can,t and the negotiations must continue with or without strike until all of the agenda is agreed and accepted by the membership.

The only flaw in that is that including all the issues in one negotiation means including all the issues in one vote to accept which in practice means that no matter how bad any resolution on deliveries is it will be guaranteed to be accepted by the membership.

A separate negotiation and deal on deliveries would mean a separate vote without the shiny beads and baubles.
It would mean it was accepted or rejected solely on its own merits.

But we will have used all of the bargaining power. ie accepted a higher pay deal, higher guarantees, and now no room to bargain on the most important issues.

I have never seen the amount of pressure placed on our OPG's in delivery as much in the last 3 years. Is the talks worth it? Yes. Let's get this out in talks now. Remember the business has it's head buried in the sand over what actually happens in a/all of the delivery offices. They have their head buried in the sand on bullying our members in delivery offices. By all acounts we have shown them the evidence during a consultive survey earlier this year. As mentioned,some of the stories where terrible.

We cannot have a "diluted" agreement on IWT and traffic tools anymore. That terminology has been twisted and abused by local management who do not use it just the results of those tools cascaded down on their conference calls. We HAVE to get the business to admit this. To do so may take longer..I am willing to wait.

In terms of Christmas,packets are massive all year round now....
