If 7 day extension , how can they decide to strike on Monday ?

They could decide to call a strike tomorrow if they thought the talks were going nowhere.
The ballot has been extended for 7 days but we don't have to wait 7 days to enact it.

Royal Mail and the Communication Workers Union (Title: CWU Description: Communication Workers Union - Represents 250,000 people in postal, telecommunications and finanical services industries in the UK CWU) have made significant progress in current talks on legal protections, industrial stability and pay. On this basis, both parties have agreed to a further extension of the legal validity of the current industrial action ballot until 27 November 2013 to allow the time to conclude the discussions.

Correct me if I am wrong but normally has it not said Royal Mail have agreed to extension but this time it says both parties have agreed? Is that progress

Trouble is, their will be plenty of people who do. In our office people were talking about coming in to get the £300 last time. If it is RM do try to make the case of not working during Christmas pressure, so not getting Christmas bonus, I think it will sway a lot of people to break a strike

you know i am a strong supporter of leadership and union. but be sure rm are not taking us for a mug. if it goes beyond Christmas we will get zero protection and all be on min pay. time running out, joker played...hand tipping to rm. jan no hand to play any more and we will be stuffed big time. And I don't think the union would recover from it.

None because by law it cannot be extended again,this is the maximum allowed

time for billy and dave to get there coats..they asked for loyal support and got it.since then its all been a bit embarrasing,people arent stupid and are quite rightly questioning the stomach for a proper fight.its obvious they cant get a deal done because ..............a deal has not been done.simple
