Re: Talks......What's Happening??
Surely we must be told at 5pm as that's the deadline, I agree put delivery aside and vote on the rest, however don't know if it's that easy, I also work in delivery, but just want it sorted, if Royal Mail don't agree to a better pay rise and £300 and backdated till April the we must walk,

Re: Talks......What's Happening??
Although I agree that abstaining is an acceptable political act, I think its a little quixotic to state that this is your intention before we even see what the agreement is. I personally am fairly active politically and I do have some quixotic tendencies of my own, however I would always recommend reading the agreement before actually deciding on what the best course to take is. I also won't base my choice on whether the new agreement is better than what I expected, or on what has gone on before. It may be a little naive for some, but my vote, or lack of it (spoiled or abstention) will be entirely based on my own personal reading of whether the proposed agreements is workable and if I can support it. I certainly won't vote based on the bungs that most certainly will be offered to sweeten the pill.chrisj wrote: I am abstaining from voting on the Agreement because I was ready to accept the Old Deal and did not even think the Union were serious or had the balls to address the issues in 'Delivery' - they have and I have been quietly impressed - so it a gain gain all round - more money and a little bit of progress on Delivery but will not likely be enough.

Re: Talks......What's Happening??
Personally I'm hoping for a provisional deal to be put to members, with the already completed issues the core of it, with separate talks for deliveries. I say that because I'm not as convinced, as others, that there are major problems in that regard. People need educating on the fact that we now work all the hours we are paid, every day and throughout the year. If you don't have enough time to complete your delivery, as I didn't today, you inform your manager and let them sort it.clashcityrocker wrote:Perhaps - but we'll never know.BernardBresslaw wrote: Perhaps if the first strike opportunity had been carried out, it might have led to an agreement earlier!
The question is - what do we do now given the situation as it is.
I strongly believe that the culture of job and finish is the source of all problems in deliveries, and as that has long gone, then members should just accept that there is no point rushing round to finish early. Until they realise this, I can't see further talks helping.
You come in and work all the time you are paid for, doing whatever task is asked of you. I'm not sure what else needs to be said.

Re: Talks......What's Happening??
I did say that I was going to spoilt the ballot paper... In a way abstaining as a protest vote more against the status quo that persist amongst the members.
People not doing the job properly is driving me to distraction: it was acceptable before we are now made to share vans and work in P&L.
I am reasonably happy with the Union but I am not going to vote for the Union for not making a more concerted effort to change the status quo in delivery and for wasting so much time on Privatisation, Boycotting DSA and threatening to use Work-to-Rule when we all know they and the Union at large does not have the balls for it. And for their poor communication with the members.
If the Union does not address the issues of people not doing the job properly, I will be parting company with Union soon and then the company in the near future. I am close to the bottom of the food chain, their deal is not going to make much of a difference to me.

"In total there are 380 users online" - all waiting for some sort of an announcement.

"2025 Users active over the last 24 hours" - Interesting times.

as far as many of us in delivery are concerned its time for a strike as we are being treated like mud. No agreement today-strike.

clashcityrocker wrote:Firstly because the threat of industrial action is in itself a powerful tool, and secondly you won't know the strength of feeling for IA until you have asked the membership.Lincox wrote:Why ballot the membership for strike action in the first place if they believed the aim was undeliverable and the achievement unattainable.clashcityrocker wrote:But you only call for strike action if you believe you can deliver it and if you think it will achieve something.
It would seem both ballots have led to concessions, but not enough to secure a deal.
I don't think the problems in deliveries will go away overnight. I don't think strike action will change that.
Far better to consolidate the gains we already have and let the delivery talks continue before, during and after xmas if need be.
Because even with strike action, those talks will continue.
exactly,if the delivery methods are the only sticking point then get the rest of the deal agreed and come back to the delivery methods, lets be honest even if the union and rm came to an agreement on the delivery methods would royal mail actually hold up their end of the deal anyway?
how many times have they moved the goalposts before after deals have been agreed.
they should get the rest of the deal done and out of the way,
and come back to the delivery points.
