It may well be that a strike call will lead to a worse deal than is currently on offer.

I don't think "working all your paid hours" or "resourcing to demand" are going to go away.

I think tomorrow will see the union giving 7 days notice of strike action for the 27th because no deal has been done. Talks will proceed just like before but with the strike looming a deal will be agreed at the last minute and the strike will be called off next Monday (The deal will be sorted by Saturday but the PEC will not come back from their Golfing weekend early to ratify things so it will have to wait til Monday! )

I'm sure they use golf trolleys to carry their clubs, i mean, who would be stupid enough to lump a heavy bag round for 4+ hours unless you had to!

It will be a half decent deal that will get voted in.
I cant see them back paying the pay deal now though.
It has been too long and its now a lot of money.

Postman have the hardest job and deserve our support.
I really want an agreement now, but not at the price of selling our the hardest workers.
Yes by all means "working your hours" is ok, but not more hours for nothing!

The dispute is about protecting us all in the future, the talks are protracted because RM want to continue to get the job done the way it is now and to potentially extend the outdoor spans, if the union wasn't bothered about that the deal on pay, pensions stopping franchising, reducing terms and conditions, sick pay etc would be done ages ago. So lets stop slagging them off and unite behind them as only them and its members will sort this out.

Well yes and no, there could possibly be a further weeks extension OR a call for an interim period of calm OR an interim agreement getting everything RM wants with details to follow.............in the New Year.

This is more than likely to happen.

Any further extension then it's pretty much a failed issue for delivery - I reckon there will be a ballot put forward for pay/pensions etc with the delivery's being constructed as an 'ongoing resolvement' in the New Year.

That way both sides can save face without really admitting the fact they can't come to an agreement.

That would mean splitting up the disciplines which is supposedly not possible in the "legally binding" agreements currently being pored over by the legal eagles - so we are safe for the next 5 years
