Talks......What's Happening??

It is made pretty clear at the start of the talks that neither side will provide any updates while the talks are progressing.
I don't know why some people still expect a tweet every 5 minutes.
We are fortunate that Dingo does provide us with snippets of information but neither the CWU or RM are ever going to do that.

Why shouldn't we get updated every day?
We are the membership who pay our union fees so I think we have some kind of a right by the union to let us know what's going on! It is our future after all!

Not realistic every day that would be unworkable.

So your saying a organisation as big as the cwu is incapable of having it's members email/mobile details and sending out a bulk message once a week/fortnight?

The first thing any DOM is going to bank is his bonus and to achieve that the second thing he will bank is under hours work. He will not have the slightest interest in a system that records overtime to be taken as holiday. So I agree that if they come up with this I will not be considering overtime in any form.

If royal mail think all posties are making time and want us to bank it, then why won't they have us clocking in/out?

So what does a 3% pay rise come to for a full-time staff.

Say* £19,500 * 0.03 = £585 over the year (* estimate)

The original offers were:

2013/14 - 2.6% (+£300) 2014/15 - 3.0% and 2015/16 - 2.8%

People that do OT/SA will still have lost out on the first year deal unless the back pay is worked out on the hours worked and paid for not contracted hours. The lump sum appears even more crucial.

As for the rest: years 2014/15 and 2015/2016 - that will be like going for a fixed rate interest or tied-in - no one knows whether the interest is going up or down and/or what inflation rate will be.

Just a thought! Can they really give us more than a 3% pay rise without demanding a 'pound of flesh' - no wonder they are not willing to budge on delivery - that is where the real expense is: and the numbers of employees too?

Weekly is good update, but it would be nice to know what had been agreed so far and and what are the sticky point. If there is pay rise agreement of 3%, why can't we have it now instead of waiting for whole agreement to be completed.

My previous post was in response to this post- speculations, I know but I agree that it would have been nice to get a hourly pay rate rise as soon as possible instead of some sort of weirdly calculated back pay and lump sum or just a lump sum

A union the size of the cwu should get it's s**t together and realise it's 2013 not 1993, it's not hard to contact your entire membership (provided they've given contact details).

Everything's been agreed except deliveries, so nothings really been agreed bearing in mind most staff are on delivery and delivery's have the most issues.

The point to issuing a bulletin is members feel like there being kept in the loop, this union shafted it's delivery members in 2010, some left for many this is the unions last chance if they get this wrong people will just leave the union, something those at the top seem to thing will never happen.

Where the union has failed in its communication is in telling delivery staff exactly what its aims are with the delivery talks.
I'm not sure that the negotiators and the membership have the same ideas on what are delivery "issues".
I think if the membership has got it into their collective heads that there will be a radical shift in Royal Mail's position on deliveries they may be in for a very big disappointment.

I think if the membership has got it into their collective heads that there will be a radical shift in Royal Mail's position on deliveries they may be in for a very big disappointment.

Surely the unions aims should of been based on what it's members wishes are rather than what those at the top table think it's members want.

If they f**k this up people will leave in droves, leaving a union with no clout and drastically less income from subs.

Who said every day? I said weekly maybe fortnightly, so perhaps it's you who doesn't quite understand.

Thanks my take on it unfortunately, Moya and Mark Higson must know the problems in delivery but they are not going to admit this.
