Post Office seeks £10m advanced data analytics services

The Post Office wants to improve its customer targeting and intends to spend up to £10 million with suppliers able to carry out advanced data analytics.

An online contract notice outlines how it is looking to appoint three 'expert data analytics companies', which are capable of providing it with analysis and insight into the Post Office's structured and unstructured customer data.

It is also looking to spend an additional £1 million on a data broker, which will provide expert advice and provide external customer data lists, in a bid to support direct marketing and customer management activity.

Suppliers interested in participating in the tender process have until 9 December to apply. The contract is currently set to last 48 months.

It was also recently announced that the Post Office has launched a mediation scheme for sub-postmasters to resolve complaints about its Fujitsu-built IT system. .

The Horizon point of sale system has been the source of much controversy over allegedly problematic accounting - resulting in heavily disputed legal battles with sub-postmasters who claim that they have been wrongly accused of fraud. Some sub-postmasters have been sent to jail over the claims.
