With the Xmas pressure overtime just about to start, can you honestly see anybody wanting to go out on strike? having a straw poll just among a few colleagues in my office that's not going to happen
There is a forgotten, well almost a forbidden word, which means more to me than any other.

That word is ENGLAND!!!

What is that agreement?

Another knife in the back for short

Collectively bargained employment agreements cannot break the law.
Given that the contract specifically mentions working in other DOs (I believe) it can hardly be illegal.
But it is crap, so given that the rep is supposed to be part of the discussions about moving people to other offices, why doesn't the rep go.
The rep after all should be able to stand up for themselves if they need to cut off and won't get screwed over concerning transport or expenses.

So if it is in the contract that posties can be moved to other offices... Why can't we have this done on a rota basis? Or like I said, pay a Reserve Allowance if you want to 'discriminate' against some class of posties.

Why would the Union be concerned about the specifics of walkholders? A walkholder is not a different grade of Postman, just someone lucky enough to have been in the job a long time or in the right place at the right time as regards revisions and vacancies.

The actual agreement doesn't state that it has to be reserves.
• Working in nearby offices – Areas will identify and agree with the CWU locally a approach (which could include the use of volunteers and reserves) to working in nearby offices within employees’ contracted hours which will include travel times and appropriate travel and
subsistence arrangements.
It's a bit of a silly argument in an office like mine that covers around 30 miles from one end to the other.
The duties to be lapsed will always be the duties closest to the delivery office, unless we keep those duties permanently open then duty holders will have to be moved.
Can you imagine the chaos involved if you were to change the lapsing duties every week depending on whether a reserve was on it or not,It's bad enough sending 10 vans into an area they aren't very sure of without changing the duty every day to suit duty holders.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share
