I cannot believe the moaners on here about how the union is failing them .There are those that think the union has sold them down the river and there are those saying they cant afford to strike!!.
I believe the union stance is the best they could have done in the circumstances. They are dammed in the public and business eyes if they went ahead with the strike on the 20th but they chose not to.
They are holding out for delivery staff to get the agreements in place to try and stop the crap they have had to put up with for years and they have managed to get royal mail to move so much in terms of pay and conditions and improved pay offer without one person having to lose money over it to date.
If we have to go out because royal mail do not honour the delivery changes then it is the best that hq could have done.We will all find it hard to pay for xmas but I have children and a wife to support at xmas and I will support the strikes if need be. This is about to trying to protect your conditions for years to come not to lose a few days pay before xmas.
This is about we as union remaining united and trying to help everybody .If we are divided then we will never be able to raise this kind of reaction and movement from royal mail again!!!

Why would they walk out this time, they didn't last time - they stayed to the bitter end and has it ever proved bitter.

Like it or not it would be stupid to deny that the same thoughts aren't going through the heads of many members.
Strikes aren't about the militant few or even those who cross the picket line but the majority of slightly nervous members in between and speaking as a rep I know that there was a small enough window of opportunity for strikes to be effective which has more or less closed now.
The only thing worse than taking no action is taking action and having it crumble in front of you,now both sides are aware of that so it will be interesting to see how this plays out.

Most of the issues are resolved so despite what some people say no matter what is put in front of the membership it will be accepted, the financial incentives and protections are too good to resist but as for the delivery issues...we'll take what we get and despite frantic polishing it will probably still taste like s**t.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

Well said if they can do delivery over they will so turn their attentions elsewhere delivery is the front line so far it is better for all not to concede any more ground and gain more back for the good of all who work in royal mail.

Don't worry there is no going to be a Strike! The Union now have the industrial stability pact with RM and its all consensual - very cosy!

Why bother with a no 'no strike' argument when the Union has now given a green light for seriously wanting a deal - so so bad.

Of course, I accept that it was all about getting a good deal and agreement but the ballot and the tough talk has woken up the beast in a lot of members...

The sad thing is there is really no a lot more than can be achieve as regards Delivery - certainly not within a week. Like someone said, it is more about a cultural change in management attitude and that RM is not ready to reveal their strategy for packets and delivery...

So all that guarantee stuff and work conditions agreement will not be worth the paper it is written on when RM start to implement their business plans - that is, if they have formulated them already because some of them will change in response to other providers.

Would that be "ground breaking" s**t ft or just ordinary? My bet is it will be polished like crazy but it'll still stink.

I think whatever we get in delivery should be heavily policed and enforced then continually monitored and assessed to make sure the spirit of the agreement is adhere to by all the parties.

so once again we carry on talking and trying to keep everyone happy, yet now it comes to light that our great leader billy has been no where to be seen. the highest paid member of our union yet he does not attend a national dispute meeting which will effect every member of the cwu.
or was he doing absorbtion (or clearing his desk).

Legal guarantees...what a crock of s**t.
The whole point of the legal system is that it can be constantly changed/challenged and is ever evolving,do you seriously think that Moya and her cronies won't be looking at some angle to brow beat the great postie population with farther down the line.I wouldn't wipe my ass on the legal guarantees  .
Still i hear the catering has been better than ever this time. :Sick
Royal Mail managers.....about as popular as a t.urd in a swimming pool!
The DDA/Equality Act demands action,NOT words......adjustments NOT Occupational Health referrals.Case No:2505901/09
Royal Mail is an Equal Opportunities Employer..It discriminates against everybody.

Can't a lot of the issues involving deliveries be sorted on a local level? If all members stick together, do the job properly, using requisite equipment, working to the rules, and their allocated hours, there is not much management can do.

I've told my managers that I am not interested in overtime, and will be working my time every day from here on out. I do indoor and outdoor absorbing, if I have time, but if I know I won't have time to complete, I tell them and leave them the stress of sorting it. Is this not what happens in every office? If it is proper bullying, then call the helpline, but if it is more subtle pressurising to do more work than you feel capable, then I think we have to collectively get some backbone and stand up for ourselves.

It seems an easier way than weeks of debate, which doesn't seem to be going anywhere. If you work this way, your stress levels should drop, and as long as you work at a moderate pace, your body shouldn't suffer.
