GRIZZLY goatees, mighty moustaches and stylish sideburns will accompany mail being delivered around Tamworth throughout November.
A 25-strong group of posties from the Blythe Street sorting depot are aiming to deliver on their promise to raise thousands of pounds for causes close to their hearts by participating in “Movember”.
The postmen are growing and shaping their facial hair throughout the month – along with hundreds of thousands of people across the United Kingdom and beyond.
The comical facial hair growing and fund-raising was sparked by the sorting depot losing colleagues to male health issues.
Postman Matthew Smith said: “We now have 25 postmen participating in Movember and a couple of ladies from the office are baking cakes that they are selling to raise money for Movember.
“The reason for us taking part in Movember as an office is we feel we have lost too many friends and colleagues to male health issues.
“In the last few years, we have lost Paul Shannon, Gruffy and John Tunicliffe. Hopefully, by doing this we can raise awareness and vital funds for Prostate Cancer UK.”
One member of the Tamworth team Chris Tuck opted to go the other way, having six years’ worth of hair growth and a lengthy beard shaved for the cause.
The postmen have raised nearly £1,000 already, donations can be made by visiting moteam.co/tamworth-mo-bros.
Whatever is raised is to be matched by their employers Royal Mail.
