LTB:National Dispute Official Update
LTB 754/13 National Dispute
No: 754/13
Ref: 21003
Date: 13th November 2013
To: ALL POSTAL BRANCHES
Dear Colleague
NATIONAL DISPUTE
The purpose of this LTB is to update CWU Branches, Representatives and Members on the current position in the National Dispute following the Joint Statement agreed on the 30th October 2013.
Although negotiations have continued and progress has been made, it has not been possible at this stage to finalise an agreement on all the issues involved in the dispute.
Following a report given to the Postal Executive yesterday, it has been agreed that negotiations should continue and the Union has accepted an offer from the company to grant a final 7 day extension to our Industrial Action ballot. This means that the ballot will remain legally valid until 27th November 2013.
It is important to convey to all CWU members that the Union is committed to reaching an agreement in the next week. However, if we cannot resolve all outstanding issues, consideration will be given to serving notice to the company for Industrial Action.
Further information will be published in due course.
Any enquiries on the content of this LTB should be directed to the DGS (P) Department.
Yours sincerely
Dave Ward
Deputy General Secretary (P)

Re: Official Update
This taking the piss. Who's going to strike so close to Christmas?
Our position is now weakening and the deal is likely to be wishy washy as a result.

Let them get on with it? Can you read? They have been getting on with for weeks and yet Mark Higson hasn't been present and so no agreement could possibly have been made. The union are taking us for mugs and we are responsible for allowing it to continue.chickenwittle wrote:oh give it a rest you lot for christ sake and let them get on with it , no one really wants to strike so if it takes a few more days ,so be it.

Re: Official Update
agreed this should have been done months ago but if it takes a few more days i can live with that, the threat of a strike 5 weeks before xmas should help the union get the deal they are after.dvbuk55 wrote:Let them get on with it? Re: Official Update
The problem is there isn't the threat of strike action any more! Royal Mail now know that the union hasn't got the stomach for it.chickenwittle wrote:agreed this should have been done months ago but if it takes a few more days i can live with that, the threat of a strike 5 weeks before xmas should help the union get the deal they are after.dvbuk55 wrote:Let them get on with it?
