Re: Bosses and union locked in talks
If the union don't get a good deal for the deliveries then basically the union are finished(if not already). Mail centres will soon be agency staff and delivery staff will be so pissed off they will either leave RM or leave the non-existent union.

Re: Bosses and union locked in talks
As we know the one thing holding back an agreement is deliveries. There can never be any agreement in deliveries until Moya Greene makes a written statement to all managers at all levels, a copy of which is placed in every unit throughout the business, stating that it is a part of the code of ethics within this business that every manager follows all national agreements to the letter, and that any attempt by any manager to change, amend or put his/her own interpretation on these will result in disciplinary procedures. Furthermore on a daily basis all overtime will be agreed prior to commencement of delivery and once agreed a manager cannot change or amend this decision, or deduct from previous or future days work.
Resource planning must be done on a weekly basis and agreed and signed off by DOM, Line Managers and Local CWU Rep.
ALL grievances and B&H claims MUST be dealt with in accordance with company procedures and time guidelines. It should also be a part of the contract that all employees attend for work at their agreed start times and not before unless previously authorised and that the delivery equipment assigned to the walk is used.

We already have an agreement that states that ......and it isn't the managers that break it.Lincox wrote:... and that the delivery equipment assigned to the walk is used.

Very true, one manager in my office has told me Royal Mail won't enforce delivery methods.dvbuk55 wrote:They may not break it but they certainly encourage it.clashcityrocker wrote:We already have an agreement that states that ......and it isn't the managers that break it.Lincox wrote:... and that the delivery equipment assigned to the walk is used.

Re: Bosses and union locked in talks
Surely the start time can be enforced? - as in a previous communication from the outdoor dept- no lapsing should be agreed by the rep in an office where the majority of staff come in early-this should now be clearly stated in any new agreement with the emphasis on the DOM to enforce the start time before any consideration to absorb is agreed at the resourcing meeting.Lincox wrote: It should also be a part of the contract that all employees attend for work at their agreed start times and not before unless previously authorised and that the delivery equipment assigned to the walk is used.
It wasn't that long ago a member could refuse to walk longer than 3.30 hours - now we seem unable to refuse extra workload in an office that is run on favours and staff starting early.

Re: Bosses and union locked in talks
Managers may well turn a blind eye but so are the union, there should be no resource meeting that doesn't take in to account the agreement on delivery methods being adhered to or there's no absorption or lapsing. It's living in cloud cuckoo land for most of these higher echelon union bods.Postaltony wrote:Very true, one manager in my office has told me Royal Mail won't enforce delivery methods.dvbuk55 wrote:They may not break it but they certainly encourage it.clashcityrocker wrote:We already have an agreement that states that ......and it isn't the managers that break it.Lincox wrote:... and that the delivery equipment assigned to the walk is used.

Re: Bosses and union locked in talks
Much as you like to criticise them I don't see how it is their fault that members choose to ignore delivery methods.dvbuk55 wrote: It's living in cloud cuckoo land for most of these higher echelon union bods.
How much support would a local rep get if he was insisting his members used the correct tools for the job. Local reps are more to blame than top union bods.
And the membership more to blame than the reps. This is what we are doing to ourselves.
People are resistant to change. The introduction of delivery methods was very poorly handled by everybody.

Re: Bosses and union locked in talks
Our office is on 4 day weeks. 5.5 Hour deliveries for full-time rural deliveries and 4.5 hour for part time deliveries. It has worked a treat for 2.5 years. There has been no sickness due to delivery spans in this time and we have a varied age group. The oldest being 65 and he loves the extra time off.DirtyHarry wrote:5hrs out in all extremes of weather every working day, is not conducive to good health.clashcityrocker wrote:That's fine if you want a predominantly part=time workforce.tomangoe wrote: Walks need to be 3.5 hours Maximum .
Something needs to be done about that.
