A little bit of logical thought tells you that that's a load of tripe. If Cameron thought that he had a way of renegotiating the UK's terms of membership (due to Scottish independence) he would be campaigning for a Yes vote loud and long. Apart from being an obvious vote-winner for the Tories, he'd have a ready scape-goat in the Jocks if it all went wrong at a later date. He couldn't lose.
Then again, the EU would bend over backwards to ensure the UK remains a part of the EU (as they would with any of the biggest financial contributors) but 5.3 million notionally independent Scots.....hmmm....not really such a big draw. :hmmmm

Cameron's biggest fear is losing 94% of North Sea all and all the tens of billions lost in leases to extract oil by the large oil companies per year

You've ignored plenty of my points while copying and pasting most of your original thoughts

The Nats have been peddling this tripe for years and they will never accept inconvenient economic realities. They carry a very large chip on their shoulder regarding the union bolstered by their selective and jaundiced take on scottish history. Surely the bigger questions here are about dividing people.Presumably scots who have gone south or elsewhere will no longer be scots where as those who have recently resided here will become scots.Nationalism will increase tension between people who increasingly define themselves as scots and english, with years of political conflict ahead.Does nobody learn from history? Is it not stupid to rekindle old prejudices?

Do you have any evidence to support this or is it not really a construct of your own prejudices and a poor attempt to use the only argument that seems to interest the "Better Together" campaign...Fear of the unknown.

I've read all your posts, all of Tman's "posts" and all of simply_the _best's posts and the one thing they all have in common is their negativity.Yes there are flaws in the Independence claims but all three of you concentrate on the negative aspects of the Independence position to the point of reducing the whole debate to an ad hominem attack on Alex Salmond or the supporters of the Independence movement and most importantly none of you,not one in 9 pages of comments has put forward a positive case for remaining in the union.

If all you can come up with is unsupported scare stories of what might or might not happen and personal attacks on those involved it does not support your argument that Independence will increase tension,It plainly shows that the tension and bitterness is already there and clearly evident in all three of your positions.

I don't understand the issues involved I must admit but the bottom line is that the people of Scotland will determine their own future. Just as in a general election each side will present their case for or against and the most compelling will be the winner. What follows is surely the debatable issues and until the result is known then the issues to be resolved are unknown.

Interesting point. If the vote is a close one, will those defeated Nats (should the vote not go their way) accept that their vision of a quasi-socialist Celtic tiger economy is a false one predicated on BS and skewed stats which insufficient voters bought in to, and then carry on as usual as part of the UK, or will the vitriol and rhetoric typical of a divided political vision continue?
Or the other result, will the unionists accept the inherent risks involved of their country "going it alone" are worth taking in an increasingly unstable world, or will they seek pastures new, as Scots have done for centuries?

The Nats are on a hiding to nothing yet we have to provide an arguement for maintaining the status quo

Ask valid questions and it's scaremongering and negativity.

Back on topic, Salmond himself has said he'd renationalise the postal service, How much will that cost the Scottish taxpayer to buy back and run?

Continued political strife? Seems only logical given the yet to be defined parameters on any number of issues and the inevitable competition and conflict of interest with the rest of the uk.The increasing tensions? Starts with the small things, like the way the shipyards redundancies were reported, the way people debate, more flags flying.I am of course speculating and raising concerns based on historical nationalism and the way people feel a need to be part of a tribe and where this can lead. This is a judgement,an opinion what evidence do you expect? Regarding the union, open your eyes and see what we have and what we take for granted. We live with things our parents and the majority of the people on this planet could only dream of.peace stability,integration,prosperity,cooperation,protection.Institutions/businesses/services work and function.Scots are not discriminated against in public or private life ,what reason to turn the clock back 400 years and jeopardise all of the above.I am not tense or bitter or prejudiced but where it comes to scottish nationalism i am very negative as i believe there is a lot to be negative about.

Do you seriously think all or any of those are in jeopardy?
Why?
It's a referendum walrus not a bloody revolutionary coup so save the hyperbole for the kids.

The only one possibly at any risk on your list is prosperity and given that the UK's debt is rising at the fastest rate since the second world war the status quo does not exactly look like a bed of roses.
...and I have to ask out of curiosity..."protection"...from who exactly?

in your dreams ... Westminster politicians would just love the threat of the Snp to go away ... it will never happen even if we don't get a yes vote this time ... we will the next time

Snp are set for a even bigger landslide than the last election going by polls I don't really trust and one that I do

Salmond is only giving us Scots the chance of independence. Once we have that then there would be a general election. If Salmond and his SNP were voted into power then and only
then would we look into renationalising the postal service. One step at a time laddie :D
The time has come to stop turning the other cheek, time to stop shaking our heads in bitter dismay, time to stop mumbling our angry words.
The time has come for union.
