Who/what are they managing?
Maybe they are managing the kettle! I'm surprised you have 6 managers for 90 staff that seems like a lot. I can see your point about after 9:30-10:00 but then they are hardly going to employ the managers for the hours between 6:30-9:30 only.
Why not?
It's called a split shift other companies in the private sector would.
They could do 4 hours in the morning and 4 on the afternoon/late shift.

More likely you would call them team leaders and come 9.30 they would be off out on delivery like the rest of us.
That's how RM will solve the "too many managers/not enough work" conundrum.
I wonder if anyone has ever bothered to inform Ms Greene of how little work there is for a line manager after 930-ish in the morning. It seems she is as equally deluded about their workload as she is about ours, albeit at completely opposite ends of the spectrum.
whats the betting there will be a form of chargehand in the brave new world. extra 20 quid a week. allowed to dosh out the conduct code. I can think of many individuals who will be worse than our current batch of managers we have. having a nice scab as your team leader. doesn't bare thinking about.

Same at our office.....Add the combined wage bill of lino's together (big money), add the assistant DOM (bigger money), then the DOM (really big money) and the DSM (salary band massive money) (annually). That's a lot of delivering to do, just to pay for these *******!

Forward thinking say's workplace coach, trying to recruit 2 more in our office £30 a week more.

I'm guessing we'll soon have a "Big Announcement" thread followed by a "Lizard" one.
I'm all for a lizard thread.
Royal Mail managers.....about as popular as a t.urd in a swimming pool!
The DDA/Equality Act demands action,NOT words......adjustments NOT Occupational Health referrals.Case No:2505901/09
Royal Mail is an Equal Opportunities Employer..It discriminates against everybody.

Yep and they get shafted for £30 in to working overtime they do not want to do or they get their couching allowance stopped so being a workplace coach is not as good as it sounds these days!
It would be the happiest day at RM for me on the day my manager, DIM and all the shiny @rsed, bullying, failed posties who have speedily climbed the greasy pole, whilst dumping on their former work mates to become linos, get made redundant. The only thing they havent done in my DO to save money is to sort out the amount of linos doing not very much all day.

I do hope some of the higher-up-the-chain snoopers in RM are reading this thread. Lots of "efficiency savings" to be made in delivery office management, meaning more money for the company, more profit and more dividend for the shareholders at absolutely no loss of quality of service to the customer.
And should the managers strike over job losses, the postmen and women will carry on working as normal. At absolutely no loss of quality of service to the customer.
