No chance.
Was once told that, and I quote, it is my 'responsibility as an RM employee, to use your own personnel mobile phone for company purposes'.
My response was
.
As for using PDA's, not trained to. Not given this 6 digit number either.
And, according to my manager, they can't be used for this reason.

Re: mobiles provided by RM ?
the six digit number is on the login screen when you put your user name and pin in, and they all can be used for calling your office, or any other office(if you get the office code for another office)UnhappyGremlin wrote:No chance.

BUT...YOU shouldn't be giving any of us this info.
It is the responsibility of RM and our managers to do this.
And, as they haven't, I will plead ignorance at all times.

Why plead ignorance? You have found out some useful information so why not just use it?UnhappyGremlin wrote:OK.zx135 wrote:the six digit number is on the login screen when you put your user name and pin inUnhappyGremlin wrote:No chance.

They have failed to train me in all aspects of PDA usage, just logging in and scanning barcodes/signing procedure, and logging out.
This gives me an excuse to use when things go wrong.
Plus, as mentioned above, my manager has told me to use the PDA for one thing and one thing only, and it isn't to be used for anything else.
I wouldn't want to disobey an instruction.

Re: mobiles provided by RM ?
Well each to their own I guess. We got the same basic training you did, worked the rest out for myself like how to do a soft re-boot or a hard re-boot of the PDA , the phone options, sat nav etc. It's not rocket science to be honest.UnhappyGremlin wrote:Why should I?sussexlad wrote:Why plead ignorance? You should not be using equipment or doing a job that you have not been trained to do. Health and Safety reasons. You take it on yourself if you self teach and have no come back on the company if things go wrong.

Re: mobiles provided by RM ?
also as part of your office revision, one of the things the planner signs off on is the training records for the PDA's, your revision could not have been signed off unless they saw each individual postie's signed training records for the PDA's which state all the things they have been trained for with them including the phone function and gps function, so unless your dom faked your signature, you have signed a document which says you have full knowledge how to use the pda

Re: mobiles provided by RM ?
We have not had a revision in our sub, but we were given PDAs about 3 weeks ago with no training whatsoever. Our rural driver who does large packets explained how to sign on and off and how to zap a parcel and that,s it. No formal training from Royal Mail. Par for the course.
