Some have still not had a park and loop revision or don't use HCT'S lucky bugger's I think dingo may not be in delivery's but who cares.chrisj wrote:Even Mr dingo is not fully aware of what goes on in delivery... Not a criticism but a statement in support DV.
I recalled recently he made a statement without realising that a lot of delivery offices have undergone revision and changes to delivery methods; and we now work in shared vans using park and loop...

Re: Talks update
But we should care because these guys (I mean Union execs and hierarchy) are there to represent us all... But if their knowledge of the delivery section is not full then we might be short-changed. And that was what DVBUK was alluding to.
Just look at a site like this: how many comments do you read or get from the other section of the RM group - Mail Centres, MDEC, Parcel Force, Logistics??? Very little!
The real issues are with Delivery* and we are not talking just about pay and pensions.
* Even Dingo said that talk on Delivery was going nowhere. And it has a long way to go from the basement it had been dumped from the last Agreement. We just need people that know what they are talking about...

Re: Talks update
Chris it is a delivery site most of the time and I have always said this. If you look at my section we have £700 in back pay already owed and a £300 bonus was offered and then the payrise which is over a £1000 a year. By next year we will be on £2500 more by April 14. A lot of us already get our pension and are being offered thousands of pounds plus free shares so you can see why heads are turned by these amounts. It's just I don't think the union realises everyone has a different agency on the deal put forward previously.chrisj wrote:But we should care because these guys (I mean Union execs and hierarchy) are there to represent us all... Re: Talks update
You're right chrisj I was referring to the lack of recent work experience on delivery by negotiating teams. We have just undergone a program where there was a team determining the stress factor on delivery with the use of equipment, the CWU representative on the team had been full time release since the late 80s
.
As a matter of interest there was no check on whether the agreed delivery method was being adhered to which made the whole scenario worthless.
The whole delivery system is in meltdown and requires more than a passing handshake in dealing with a renewed effort to rectify the problems - there has been chattering going on for the last three years and absolutely nothing has been learned from previous revisions and the failures.

Re: Talks update
Cloherty, how are you calculating your pay increases. A £300 bonus this year does not follow on into following years. What is the £700 backpay and how do you calculate an 8.6% payrise over 3 years equate to increased income of £2500 after next April.?

Our back pay is roughly £85 a month and when you multiply it by 7 that's what it roughly is.Lincox wrote:Cloherty, how are you calculating your pay increases. Re: Talks update
Chris I think most of us know quite a bit about deliveries and not just what happens in your own office.
Out of the 115 000 members who were balloted 95 000 of them work in Delivery Offices. So there is no chance of a deal voted in by other sections of workers unless it has the support of significant numbers of delivery offices.
Royal Mail see absorption as a key component to their Business Plan and the way they introduce it varies from office to office. Clearly some of the absorption plans cause bullying and harassment within offices , there are no flexing up of hours , some people are moved off duties to create absorption , some absorptions create failures. The list goes on.
This is the problem at the moment in talks. The CWU want to agree new terms on absorption and stop outdoor absorption all together and Royal Mail see that the union is trying to stop a vital component of their business plan.
My bet is on further strikes.

The thing is some people just look at the money, and will vote for a deal how ever bad it is,bt2010 proved that.

Re: Talks update
Re bt2010 deal.
Im wondering if the deal was brought in because all the ballot papers didnt get posted out to us lot.
In our office alone more than a third of us didnt recieve a ballot paper.
How many other offices did this happen to I wonder during the last ballot for bt2010?
The cwu were saying that it was the best deal we were likely to get and yet in our office at least we didn't all get out ballot papers.
The last deal was very iffy from our offices point of view.
Did any other offices recieve all of their ballot papers back in 2010?

Re: Talks update
Royal Mail see absorption as a key component of their Business Plan - wow! Unless this is fully explained and justified, that is enough reason for a strike - from the delivery point of view.
I actually think absorption is OK where it is managed and fair and when it is infrequent... However, Lapsing is NOT a good idea! To absorb when the office is really short of staff and to be paid back the time is one thing but to create an artificial system of lapsing based on bogus traffic figures is another thing.
But what happens in Mail Centres when there is not enough work to occupy their contracted hours? Longer breaks, my guess? But really what happens?
Clocking system - Now!!!
