HELP!! Manager trying to take overtime back off us!!!

Help needed, several discussions with DOM and getting know where but shouted at,

Last week was quite busy, i put over time down for Thurday (20 mins), Friday (40mins) and Saturday (Hour and 15 mins) , My manger said i could put the over time down only on the understanding that i give some back to him if i finish early the this week, i said im sure you cant do that as its separate weeks and the overtime docket should be sent off on a monday, he said that because of the threatened strike action RM pushed mail through before the stike and this week should be light so we would have to give the time back, as it was i was 40 mins over yesterday and bang on time today so no time made,

he then went off on one at me asking why i wasnt back on time on monday and asked to explain myself, my reply being we was 30 minutes late of sorting, not a good enough reason apparently, i asked for proof in writing that he is allowed to take O/T back off us and he said "who the hell do you think you are, i will pay you non of it if you want to take this futher: result a very stressed me walking away . Anyone know where i stand on this is my DOM in the right?? it just doesnt sound right to me? thanks

Your DOM is a dickhead he cannot take any overtime back from you. You need to get your union rep involved and if you can afford it tell him to stick his overtime where the sun don't shine and hit him with a cut off

Don't do the overtime tell him he can do it! As for your overtime put it down to experience and tell others which I do you are not the only one in a word CUT OFF!

Im a bit scared of Cutting of because its a rare thing in our office because the DOM usually hits the roof and demands some explanation why we are going over and wont listen when i say ive got alot of mail, late of sorting etc, he wont reason with me, then he just trys to baffle me with facts n figures and i feel lost with it all

Put in a grievance about his attitude, he can't insist you give him time back, he can't take overtime back without your consent. His attitude is one of bullying and harassment . You may not feel that a grievance will go any where but they do add up. He's a dick and he's in the wrong and he knows it! Call his bluff

Get a rep involved, if he shouts at you just say you don't like his attitude and walk away, try to have a witness with you when you have any dealings with him and most important keep notes of all conversations and times and witnesses, if you look pro active he will back off.

Look just tell them in good time if they cannot take work off you just tell the management that THEY have failed when you get back or the next day most of them bugger off home after we leave the office! Don't feel bad about CUTTING OFF it is a guilt trip for managers to hang over you so they don't have to work!

at what point during the days that you are claiming over time did you inform your manager that you would not be finishing on time and what was his reply?

ok your doing it correctly, next time your going to be over, ask your rep to be your witness to telling the dom, he cant cut the over time off like this, and if your rep is your witness then he should be able to get the situation fixed,

as for flexing, its part of a national agreement, it is completely voluntary, and must be given back in the same week, it is for unexpected events such as vehicle break down etc it should not be getting used as a norm to cope with poorly planned workload on his part, he cannot even force it on you in the same week, ie you were over on thursday by half an hour and claimed correctly, but your back at the office half hour early on friday, he cant take the over time off you, the only thing he can do in that situation if he wants to be a arse is to make you stay in the office till your correct finish time

I know its difficult but don't let him intimidate you. Thats what he's trying to do. I agree about getting the rep involved and putting in a grievance. He's bullying you and trying to steal your overtime. He won't want to be investigated. I would also email Moya. Her office will look into matters such as this.
