Postal strikes in Weston Super Mare to threaten Christmas mail

For immediate release
The delivery of Christmas mail in Weston Super Mare and the surrounding area is today under threat after postal workers at the Royal Mail depot in Warne Road, Weston threatened more strike action, in an ongoing dispute about overloaded deliveries and amid continuing allegations of bullying and harassment, by managers at the depot.
Strike action was previously held on 17 August and 12 September 2013. A meeting of postal workers was held outside the depot earlier today and workers decided to request further strikes in the run up to Christmas.
The Royal Mail depot in Weston Super Mare provides deliveries to the BS22, BS23 and BS24 postcode areas and over 140 staff work there, meaning that a strike at this time of the year will result in a massive disruption to mail deliveries and many collections.
CWU Bristol Area Official David Wilshire said "The strike action earlier this year was the first in living memory but certain Royal Mail managers have continued to bury their heads in the sand and hope the problem will go away. As a result the timing of this strike is of their making alone. Postal workers in Weston are still alleging that bullying and intimidation is occurring on a daily basis and that deliveries are still overloaded".
David went on to say "A number of workers have received intimidating letters that are outside of any procedure threatening future conduct. It appears that there are a number of renegade managers at the depot who are making up the rules as they go along".
The Communication Workers Union have asked for meetings with management and insist that the timing of the first strike will provide Royal Mail with a window of opportunity to resolve the issues at the heart of the dispute.

Heh has anyone told the Union at WSM that they could use the Alternative Disputes Procedure rather than take strike action, furthermore should they have taken action within 28 days of the last one otherwise they have lost the right to further action ????????

This is not just about W-S-M.
Lets face it if RM senior management can't get their managers to treat staff fairly, with dignity and respect, when they are attempting to thrash out a national agreement which they are hoping will prevent a national strike, what are the chances of them behaving correctly afterwards??
