Xmas holidays

We are not allowed any leave in our office from the last week in November, until the 6th of January. I asked the Dom why the week ending 5 th of January was blanked out and was told no leave allowed as people go sick week after Xmas. WTF? Can he do that? And if so, why can he do that. Just about seen it all now.

He might be right about people going off sick - from experience, of course. However, you will find out that the 'usual' handful will get the first week in the new year. That is what happens at our place and it is often a couple of PHGs and the top dogs and/or lap dogs.

Royal Mail are looking at similar options for our sector, so I presume it is a wider matter than down to a particular office - doesn't necessarily make it right though!

Not at my office they changed it years ago to senior one year then junior the following year.

Not sure why they stop is having leave at xmas as they keep telling us MAILS DOWN!!!!!!!!!!

Manager gonna look a bit daft if no one does go sick and you have staff in with no work for them. Sure they are meant to give a smaller than normal amount of annual leave except the 2 weeks before Xmas when no one will be off.

As far as I am aware leave is agreed locally with the local rep?
We agreed to December blocked off up until Xmas eve...

As far as I can tell, he hasn't agreed to anything. I don't think I would be at all happy if he did agree to this, as he is surposed to be supporting and helping the union members and not help Royal Mail to pull fast ones.

Ok but i should find out for sure. Ask him if he's signed off next years proposed leave agreement. If he's not, then you may still have a chance but be prepared as an office for delays in picking leave as this will undoubtedly go to disagreement at divisional level.

If he has signed it off and agreed to wipe all leave for December then its too late.

Isn't the Xmas bonus based on only 4 weeks of Xmas pressure and no annual leave in this period so if the rep goes to unilateral disagreement it should put a stop to this im sure all area reps are on the ball with this

it is only meant to be the 4 weeks leading up to christmas were we cannot book hill i noticed the same but i just put infer the weeks he blanks out and have been given them the past few years but the union need to get it sorted there starting to take the piss with our holls
