Having kids is irrelevant even if someone assumes that I think it should be my God given right to jump the queue. 5 years or 25 years. I should be given same opportunity holiday wise as everyone else.
Glad the posties in my DO don't have the attitude of 'screw you Jack, I'm all right' as has been expressed on here.

If seniority is being abused in your office then I apologise. Seniority is not wrong but the way it can be used is open to abuse. See your rep, suggest it's rotated see if you can get an office vote on it?

I don't think screw you, I'm all right. I do think you should take your turn. If this is not happening in your office then yes something needs to be done about it and only you and all your great, wonderful, understanding workmates need to get together to change it!

I cannot go into too much detail but the guy who took over my duty cannot push a HCT anymore it hurt's his arms now apparently SO he asked to do my duty ( which he lives on by the way ) and I was removed. When I asked my line manager why I was removed he said " it was his decision and that signing of deliveries was union based " when I asked my rep he said " sorry they can do what they want " .... so now I'm left on HCT duty I don't want to be on and xmas I'm going to lose £600 tips but that's not the point what happens when he gets sick of my old duty because he's struggling on that now, will he just click his seniority fingers and move onto somebody else's duty ??
who's more the fool, the fool , or the fool that follows the fool ?

That's not down to seniority then is it? That's due to medical needs which is a different issue entirely! :hmmmm

It's possible that someone can have reasonable adjustments made to adjust for a genuine disability.
It's possible that this could mean identifying a duty more suitable for this person and that could be yours.
This has nothing to do with seniority.

There are however processes that need to be followed and ATOS should be involved and any member who is displaced should be offered pick of any vacant duties in the office.
It doesn't sound like any of that has happened in your case,It sounds more like they are making it up as they go along.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

I wish I could go into more detail about this but I can't, let's just say when I took it further his length of service was brought up and that was one of the reasons his request of transferring on to my duty was accepted. Medical reasons had nothing to do with it .

Well seniority picking is alive and well in our DO. At the end of the day 5 years or 25 years, should be fair opportunity for all. Will just have to sit and wait and see if my holiday dates have been accepted.

Love heated debates and if something has been made clear is that there is no real defined process regarding holiday allocation. National agreement or not. Seems that rules are made to be broken

seniority is the fairest way, but what you can do is if you miss out on your first choice of 3 weeks then the next year you get first pick for your 3 weeks and seniority after that, and then if anyone missed out on their first choice of 3 weeks that year then the next year they get first pick for your 3 weeks and seniority after that, and then if anyone missed out on their first choice of 3 weeks that year then the next year they get first pick for your 3 weeks and seniority after that, and then if anyone missed out on their first choice of 3 weeks that year then the next year they get first pick for your 3 weeks and seniority after that, and then if anyone missed out on their first choice of 3 weeks that year then the next year they get first pick for your 3 weeks and seniority after that,
Its easy it works its fair and you keep seniority

Good luck getting whoever allocates your holidays agreeing with that one!

What's the issue with it, those with NO seniority who don't get 1st choice get it the next year and those with seniority keep it
