All you need is love
The latest RM advert shows loads of happy looking post people delivering parcels to delighted customers to a backing track of a choir singing the old Beatles number 'All you need is love'. I've got an idea for the next one if they want to follow up on the theme of 60s hits, lets have a full minute of film of Moya Greene to a hearty rendition of the Stones' 'Sympathy for the devil'!

I have to agree that it appears that RM would have conceded some things to the Union to avoid the Strike for Nov 4.
I have always thought* that the Union hierarchy also did not want a Strike - not as much as some militant sections of the workforce.
Its all about the money! They have to look at what they might lose compared to what they might gain and then somewhere in the middle they will give a percentage to the workers.
Whatever happens, both parties will spin things to favour their narrative.
Union - we mean business and will not be pushed around. We managed to achieve this much despite the initial resistance and scepticism from some members. Going forward, we have secured an agreement that we shall be fully consulted by RM as partners in the business...
RM - we have avoided a damaging strike that will have adversely affected our poor** customers & business partners esp in the run-up to Xmas and we have been able to secure some industrial stability. RM is now a much better reformed company both in terms of its modernisation and its relationship with its workforce and Union. We now look forward to bringing RM into the 21st century with investments from the private sector, ensuring that we continue our modernisation and continue to grow the business, especially in the packets and parcels business.
Something like that!

the longer I am inside sorting mail and getting my delivery ready during the Christmas period .... the less outdoor work I will be doing ... stick their over time .... absolutely no incentive to do it ... knock your pan in for a extra 20p per hour above your normal rate and below your normal rate after 10 hours .... go and take a flying **** ... I will be starting and finishing at my normal time

Nice ad, but.......only showing parcels with postage paid directly, no hint of taking your parcels to the Post Office, hmm carry on like this RM and we will be opening our doors to your competitors
