Processing security checks DS

Post by mikeyp23 »

Hello everyone, i attended my royal mail interview last week and now my status is "processing security checks DS". ive worked for royal mail the passed 2 xmas periods with no issues but this time round i feel worried a bit. I was sacked from where i used to work around 4-5 years ago now because they classed me as using 1.20 from the tips pot as stealing from the company (everyone used to do it). i was never arrested but i did have to go to the police station to tell them that it happened and that i admitted doing it which got me a caution. im worried that this is going to come into effect even though ive worked for royal mail the past 2 years with this on my record.

hope you guys can help me.

thanks

They would have done security checks for the last 2 times you worked so I would guess it is not showing up on the checks.

thanks for the reply verging. yea i know what you mean, the difference is now this disclosure scotland thing, but i read on the xmas staff faq that they only run a basic check for unspent criminal convictions and cautions do not show on a basic check only a standard and advance.

How long do these security checks normally take to pass and is the "processing security checks DS" part where they check for criminal convictions (unspent) ? I've never been sacked or anything whilst working for Royal Mail so should I be cleared to start soon ? As I mentioned previously I did get a police caution a few years ago but that would have showed on the disclosure Scotland check if I'm not mistaken

There is no normal time I am afraid, it takes as long as it takes - especially now when 21,000 casuals will be going through the system in time for Christmas, certainly a week is not a long time.

I still can't believe the police would be bothered about £1.20. Your ex boss must live a sad life.

Depends how quick they do the paperwork - with 21,000 going through the process its hard to give specifics.
