Right i am a postman at Nottingham Mail Centre Late Shift. I totally backed the union last time and i backed the union this time. But yet again we have the momentum and what do the union do stall. They had the backing of the members who were prepared to strike but yet again are letting Royal Mail dictate things. I hope for there sake its a good deal because speaking with a few postmen they are all pretty pi@@ed off.

No the trouble is some people are suffering from nirvana fallacy syndrome assuming that there is some perfect solution to the issues facing us and if the union doesn't achieve this it must by definition have sold out its members.

At some point serious negotiations had to start,I'm happy they've started now and have a fixed timetable so that if they are going nowhere we still have the chance to apply some pressure.
What I don't want to hear in two weeks time though is that we need more time.

Compared to BT2010 these are relatively simple if contentious issues and if both sides are serious I see no need for more time to achieve a solid framework agreement covering all of the points in the joint statement.

You do not go out on strike when a management have agreed in writing that they wish to come to a negotiated agreement on a set of principles which include raising pay above what has been previously offered and increasing the protection period from 3 to 5 years.
You go out on strike when management either refuse to negotiate or the terms they have offered are not acceptable.
Notts, what do you and EVEYBODY think you will achieve by continueing with strike action on Monday? What are your goals.

The one thing that has seemed to have leaked is the 5 year legally binding protection of t and c's. Well, in the current jobs availability climate this would be a deal clincher for me The original pay offer was ok by me and they can keep the £300 if they want as this extension more than makes up for it

I'm pretty sure the union know they let down the staff with the last deal but there are trying to make up lost time. I have faith the union will get us the best deal ever, not as good at the 2010 agreement though

Never mind all that.....are you going to Coventry to see Hodges heroes or like me are you waiting until they appoint a decent and dear I say experienced manager in charge at Notts?
