What happened ? royal mail pushed thru what they want , so why should we believe a word of the 2013 deal?
Agreements mean nothing, the things we want have to be built into the system, the way we work or else it is just lip service and handshakes between people that never do what we do.
I agree with you , i'm saying i've heard this all before in 2010 and it turned out to be a load of s**t from royal mail re working with the union.
If this turns out to be a union back down or they push a strike back and back until xmas is all done and dusted then i can see the majority leaving the union, and without royal mail staff how big will the cwu be?
It could be a cunning plan by the union, they know and so does the management that if no satisfactory deal is agreed then we are likely to be called out right when the Xmas mail is building up nicely , I don`t think Moya would want to risk that.
and I don`t think any union anywhere would agree to a no strike clause so calm down comrades
This all does sound suspiciously like a delaying tactic with RM saying "Yep, we'll listen to your concerns, two weeks and we'll have it all sorted".. Then two weeks passes and "Well this hasn't developed very well so lets keep talking though with Xmas coming up we won't have much time.. Lets push the talks back to late January." and our union will probably say yes!
Why postpone the strike when no deal is done? Surely that is the purpose of all this? When the deal is done with favorable terms then cancel it, until then keep it on and show no signs of giving in!

If we are faffed about with no agreement by 13th November, we go out on strike to turn the screws and then negotiate at the same time, "period of calm" didn't work the last time round.

I agree completely. I've said all along that it is actually our union leaders that don't have the stomach for a fight. Talk talk talk blah blah blah!!! Look at the state of the last agreement after all their talking and leisurely lunches together! Great support from many foot soldiers but the leaders are clowns.
Heard it all before. Of course it's delaying tactics from R.M. I bet,as we speak, they are seeking legal advice, trying to find a loophole that will make the strike illegal. The talks will probably go on until one minute pass midnight on the deadline day,and R.M will declare that it's now illegal to strike, and we would have to ballot again. There is bound to be some small print the Union haven't read,or understood. The company have already said they can't guarantee anything over the 3 years they are offering,as who knows who will be running the show then, so why have they changed their stance now? I said weeks ago that the strike would be called off at the last minute,as suddenly R.M after not being arsed to budge on it's terms, will suddenly budge now a strike is imminent. Call me a pessimist,or tell me i'm paranoid,or being cynical, but they (R.M) are up to something! Watch this space......
The last ballot should have offered a work to rule option, that way we could work to rule,as from Monday when the strike should have started, and the talks could have been done while we were working to rule. Just in case R.M, started playing games.
I am very suspicious that this is a stunt by RM.
Concerned doesn't cover it.
Would be relieved if this was the way it looked, but only time will tell.
My one big concern is that, should it go wrong, and the union call a strike, will the support be the same from the members?
The closer it gets to Xmas, the more RM will 'panic', but I think it will be harder to persuade staff to strike.
"4. An agenda for growth underpinned by a culture of consensual change, timely decision making and industrial stability supported by alternative dispute resolution processes" is the one that causes most concern and worst of all is the word 'agenda' which is what there is BEFORE anything is considered and/or decided.

Yes, I suspect this is the case. What would happen if The Government 'sold 'the rest of Royal Mail? Just a thought¬ How many times have strikes been called, then The Unions strike deals which turn out to be worthless?

What word would you prefer or don't you think RM should be looking to grow?

I don't disagree with 'growth' but am concerned about "An agenda for .... industrial stability supported by alternative dispute resolution processes"

I think that one is for the legal teams. Hopefully we got good ones?
