At WTL we had a rep come down to explain the ins and outs of the dispute,and how the negotiations were going.
At the Q&A afterwards, i asked if the no strike clause had been adressed, and was assured that our union would never agree to such a demand
I hope to god he was right. If we agree to a no strike deal, i think we are finished. It will be hunting season as far as RM are concerned

Let's see what OUR UNION that we pay for and support over the years, come up this time for its members, we are the workers for this public company every day of the year and it's getting harder and unfair as each day goes by, support us and back us union and get us a decent deal or go and sit with Royal Mail management

We should still strike on 4th November and support our colleauges who work in Post Office Counters ! If they are offering us a better deal then they can do the same for POL !

Why would the union back a no strike clause?

Surely there would be no point being in a union when it no longer has teeth?

I think Good News that the Strike has been "Postponed" , as a bargaining tool the "YES" vote has done it job. RM realise the Union still has a lot of support (despite many selfish, short sighted, greedy, spineless colleagues) and it's got them back to the table. Which I've always believed is the First Step.

We always hope for the best, but prepare for the worst, so I don't feel a healthy dose of cynicism is wasted. We know what RM are like from bitter experience.

I only hope the CWU get someone with a bit of brains to go through any agreement and make sure we don't get stitched up down the line. I get the feeling "Their People" are a bit sharper than "Our People"!

I have an idea , the Union should try and replace the text in clause 4 with this:

To secure for the workers by hand or by brain the full fruits of their industry and the most equitable distribution thereof that may be possible upon the basis of the common ownership of the means of production, distribution and exchange, and the best obtainable system of popular administration and control of each industry or service.

Agreements mean nothing, the things we want have to be built into the system, the way we work or else it is just lip service and handshakes between people that never do what we do.
