If there is a no strike deal then surely rm staff will vote no to the deal?.
An agenda for growth underpinned by a culture of consensual change, timely decision making and industrial stability supported by alternative dispute resolution processes.

Couched in these terms it doesn't look like a no strike clause but in fact it is. Once the teeth have been pulled is the CWU going to gum RM into submission.

I would need to see what both party's idea of alternative is.
Royal Mail senior management must know that there is a limit to what we would accept as self-neutering and I don't think they would jeapordise the whole deal for a no strike deal.
As we've always said DV...it's the words in an agreement that count, not the spirit or overarching ambition. :left:

stop being negative people! dont jump the gun! I remember a few weeks ago getting letters from royalmail saying the pay deal was at the high end of what they could afford and that the business cannot look past 3 years! All of a sudden they can afford more & can see beyond 3 years!!! We may not be home dry yet but we as a union together are winning the war for our futures! Stay positive, & believe in our union leaders as they are all we have & must support them! :thumbup

But the alternative resolution process might be a fight in the car park.
They send their top boys........
:hmmmm Well the next dispute will open with RM saying "or else what" and the CWU will respond with "mlum, mlum, mlum"

Just so ft. Hopefully we will not be bamboozled into believing there is a "new understanding and full involvement of the CWU" and a joint management structure. As we've found to our cost "overarching" doesn't mean snuff it's a "perhaps with best intentions" but if it doesn't happen ces't la vie. I'm waiting with bated breath for, dare I say it, the deal of the millennium. :whistle

We have nothing to lose by waiting a couple of weeks, lets face it they would not have came back to the table if we had'nt been ready to strike.
Lets see what comes of the talks and if the union and ourselves are'nt happy then we are out and remember the closer to Xmas it gets with us in strike mode the bigger panic for the Canadian lady and her cohorts.

Fair days work for a fair days pay.....

How's that gonna be checked then?

In my office we have awful awful rounds, easy rounds and joke rounds.

Some are truly hours apart in a 9 hour day.

How is this going to be addressed?

Post revision btw

A shambles

From who? People keep saying 'I've heard, I've heard' but never say who and why their word should be taken seriously

At least he is being honest - and he is a rep too...

Some people here are a lot closer to the Union hierarchy than most - so they are the ones best placed to compared the old agreement with the new (improved) agreement.

Yes, there will be some measure of improvement but by how much and how much and how long will the hands of the Union be tied after this deal.

Why do the deals tends to be so all-inclusive. Things tend to get built up so much that in end they do get settled and people tend to forget how come there was so much fuss in the end.

Improved Pay deal - tick
Different Pension arrangement-thingy - tick (how much better off will people really be?)
Longer protection - tick (at least, it is there in principle for the current employee, that is)

The rest is a whole of waffle - waffle waffle... How will it impact on the ground? :pray

So basically the Terms will either be slightly improved or slightly better protected but the Conditions are up there in the air.

The Union has crapped their pants once again by calling off the strike just before Xmas and there is me thinking its my day off next Monday and I would get paid. The annoying thing is 50% of our office have worked their day off this week or are booked to work their day off to cover them from Monday. Bang out of order!!1
