What would be Royal Mail's big threat?
It would have to be something that works for Royal Mail so what would it be?

Try jobs ! T and C !
Oh we've already had that - D2D? had to accept the delivery supplement because they threatened to pull the plug, BT2010 if that has not proved to be an attack on T&Cs I'll show my ars* on the town hall steps, the disparity between full and part time, the recruitment of part timers to fill full time roles, an any time delivery span as an enabler - the nature of the beast is threat and that isn't going to go away. Did the union capitulate or did the members vote to accept?

So the idea that the union hasn't already given in to threat isn't really valid.

But we know those are under threat, that's what we are fighting to protect so it can't really be the nuclear option Ineos used against Unite can it? Stop fighting to protect your terms and conditions or we'll attack your terms and conditions even more just sounds silly.

All they can do is say this is what we're offering and it's up to you whether you accept it or not which has always been the position as far back as I remember.
Grangemouth hasn't changed that.

Some time in the next week Royal Mail will likely put an improved offer on the table. It will likely still fall short of our expectations but depending on how close it is the union will have to make a judgement call on whether it is acceptable or not.

Royal Mail's strength at the moment is that they are playing the part of the reasonable "good cop",I can't see anything to gain in bringing out the "bad cop" and risking antagonising the workforce and making prolonged disruption more likely.

No free Christmas stamps. I've always supported the union but if those go, there's only so much a man can take.

So it looks like it is whatever shift you normally work on the Monday is the shift you strike on.
