Hardly anything here - a few heavy showers and no wind - a damp squib.

One of my own 50 foot willow trees partly collapsed during the night! :( As I was examining it at 4.30am another large branch crashed down besides me. Phoned the DOM to tell him I might be late as I was trying to make safe the fallen parts of the tree- no concern whatsoever from the DOM of course. Now I need a good tree surgeon to remove the tree as whats left ain't safe!! Even now after the storm was passed the whole trunk is swaying!!

Did not go out today until 11.00am........... were held back as we could not get out of the office slip road onto the main highway! The brains behind RM decided to build our new office on what is the busiest, biggest most dangerous island in the town. Road closures either side of this island created grid lock with nothing moving anywhere fast. Lads out on timed deliveries 10 mins from office at 8.00am not back till 10.30. :left: When they finally decided to let us go, it was with only specials, tracked and packets as Dom said no OT would be paid for today. Funniest thing to see 60 to 70 RM vans backing up down the slip road. Nearly all mail left in for tomorrow, shame it's my day off :dance

After nearly 20 years in, i've had my fair share of "bad luck", and while i feel for my P&L partner, will enjoy tomorrow with the kids(half term) just that little bit more.

The Prime Minister has chaired talks about plans to protect the public.

In the conference call, joined by staff from organisations including the Met Office and the environment and highways agencies, Mr Cameron heard the storm could have a "widespread impact", his spokesman said.

But he was told there were plans in place to minimise the effect on public services such as schools, the NHS, transport and power supplies and postal services.
I noticed that no one saw the flaw in this statement. We are not public anymore. We are private.

Quite a bit of damage around the area this morning. We all managed to make it into work and went out in it with these priceless words of wisdom 'just look out for falling branches and tiles' :cuppa
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets
