Re: Storms on Monday
The only debris flying about in the UK will be my tray of letters that "accidentally" get caught in the wind

Re: Storms on Monday
Well this one is a BIG ONE but as you say it is your call don't let the DOM call the shot's and good luck.theargyspy wrote:What I was trying to get across in my ham-fisted way in my post was at that at the time of the great storm in 1987, there wasn't the same emphasis on H&S as there is today. As for mobile masts being down the only mobile phones available at the time would have been the Motorola 'brick phone' costing £3000+, well out of the price range of a postman, in those day's you got on with it.k979aaa wrote:NO if YOU deem your health and safety is at risk you can terminate the delivery you need to tell them but the phone lines may be down or the mobile masts if you feel it is not safe DON'T DO IT! It's your life at the end of the day.Lazycarton wrote:My fear is that you have to be injured before anyone in management takes the matter seriously.theargyspy wrote:In The great storm of 1987 I was nearly decapitated by a flying 'For Sale' sign that had uprooted in the wind and came flying down the
road whilst I was cycling out to my delivery, had a couple of near misses later when roof tiles came sliding off and landing where, seconds
before I had been stood. I used up a couple of my nine life's that day![]()
Brightened up what would have been a otherwise dull day.
On Monday if the weather is blowing a real gail and my DOM decides it's too dodgy to go out I guess I will stay in the office but in my experience whenever we get a severe
weather warning, it usually turns into a damp squib and grossly exaggerated. The ones that usually catch you out are the ones the forecasters don't predict
On Monday I will use my common sense

If you get sent home I take it if you're working your day-off you'll only get paid the time you were actually in the office and not the full shift?

Re: Storms on Monday
does not look as bad as first thought now, this from a weather forum i use.
Growing Evidence now suggests a wet and windy night tonight but nothing out of the ordinary for the End of OCtober. And infact tomorrow will likely be bright and breezy with sunshine and showers for most !
