Why are we going on Strike ?

The public generally look at pay and seen as they are getting pay freezes and 1% rises, we are going to look greedy and won't have their support.

The public did not want Royal Mail sold yet it has been this is not about just what the public wants but what we need to provide the service they expect! You pay peanuts you get monkeys and the criminal element to subsidise the low pay! Our job is a position of trust with the public not a negotiating point for the share holders of Royal Mail!

Tell me dingo are we seriously only taking one day on strike followed by another ballot? If that is the case you can count a great number of people out of the strike equation, they voted for IA for which they are prepared but another ballot makes one day seem pointless - especially a Monday.

So Friday came and went, we have seen the statement from HQ, now what? Are talks continuing all next week or is there a day when talks will finish with no agreement.
Monday, the date and time of action will be released, but will we be here this time next week still being told talks are happening, members want clear instructions of what's happening, members are getting pissed off! Whilst RM continue to bombard them with s**t about not going on strike. I hope HQ know what their doing! Strike action and then a poor or relatively unchanged agreement will not be excepted by the members again! Bring on the strikes but lets get some positive fighting talk from HQ, we need strong leaders at this time, but I'm thinking it's just all to quiet!!!

You didn't but there doesn't seem to be any point in taking a day of action followed by yet another ballot. Why is there no intimation of when further strike days are going to be called instead of the rush for a watered down ballot. If they haven't got the nerve for it then they should say so and stop yanking our chain.

Of course the aim is a deal but will a second weaker ballot produce that? What are the legal aspects of a boycott on DSA has that been clarified yet.

What about the biggest march since 1971? Is it still on or is it not.

All these things are what the union should be communicating to the members. The real deal pamphlet was good I ran some copies off for distribution in the office and it had some impact in its layout.

we are here to earn a living its going pear shaped i always cut off and dont do overtime but ive a good mind to start as the CWU is annoying me not getting my pay rise

What if the CWU then called strike action , which included an overtime ban , a work to rule as well as a boycot of competitors Mail hardly a backward step.

The CWU given what is at stake will only ballot on the boycot if cleared legally all will be revealed Tuesday.

Plan A is IA and that is a sound judgement but without seeing what effect that will have and without increasing the frequency there has been a decision for a second ballot. This would only occur after Monday the 4th, take a week or 10 days to organise a 2nd ballot, that's 14th November, take 3 weeks for returns that's early December, give RM a fortnight to come up with another offer and you're pretty much in Christmas week. Now that looks as though there is a plot there particularly if the legality of any boycott is, even at this stage, in doubt. The way forward is to strike and increase action in the Christmas run up creating an insurmountable backlog.

Either the march is officially sanctioned or it isn't - you must be aware that there is talk that permission for the march has been denied, which if true would belie the biggest march since 1971.

Who says we will wait till the other ballots results are declared before the next strike ? We will not give more than 7 days legal notice to the employer why should we .

Any March in Westminster or the city is difficult to organise during weekdays , the one we done in London in 2009 took a fair time to agree. But I reckon a few surprises may occur on this day !!!!!
