VILLAGERS have started a campaign to keep their “friendly” postman amid fears he could be posted to another location.
People in Blakedown and Churchill are desperate for Paul Mudge to stay on his rounds as they say he is a part of their community.
Rumours have been running rife around the villages that Mr Mudge could be relocated due to changes at the Kidderminster delivery office.
Royal Mail is currently reviewing its operation due to a fall in mail volumes but bosses said changes had not yet been implemented.
Churchill resident Primrose Coley said: “Paul really is a good postman.
He’s part of our community.
Paul is so liked and respected so we don’t want to lose him. He always has a cheerful smile when he sees you. He just knows everybody.
“Paul is very dedicated and very reliable and he does a good job and it’s rare these days to get a service like that. I would be very unhappy if he was to go to another area.”
Roy Keys, Blakedown and Churchill parish councillor, added he also wanted Mr Mudge to stay on his round.
“He’s such a friendly guy,” he said. “He knows the district like the back of his hand. He knows everyone.
There’s not much of that left in our community.”
Royal Mail spokeswoman Val Bodden said: “We are pleased that our customers in Churchill and Blakedown have had such excellent service from one of our postmen.
“It is always gratifying when our customers recognise the hard work of their postman or woman.
“We need to continually review our operation in the light of falling mail volumes and a change in what we deliver – fewer letters and more parcels.
“Changes at the Kidderminster delivery office have not yet been implemented but when they do take place, some customers may notice that a different postman or woman will deliver their mail. However, we can assure customers that all our staff are trained to the same high standards and quality of service will be maintained.”

RM could not give a toss about what the villagers want.
I wouldn't be suprised if they hauled the postie in, and asked him how he finds time to be so friendly

You have to wonder at guys like Mr Mudge.
All they have to do to stop this crap is explain to the punters that it's a nationally agreed resign process and basically f**k all to do with Royal Mail once they've done the revision thing. If he was that "friendly" you would think he would have the decency to stop this and save those punters from making an arse of themselves like this.
Is it an ego thing? or does he actually believe that RM will bypass seniority, ignore everyone else in his D.O. and keep him on that duty because his customers apparently like him?

Same in my D.O rural catchment area, customers didn't want to change postie, many have moved from one village to another which means customers have simply swapped one friendly experienced rural delivery posties for another. A few have gone to urban delivery duties and a few senior urban delivery duty holders moved to rurals as urban has lost its appeal due to delivery methods.

The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.
