This started because you posted that you and your rep were not going to represent anybody who crossed a picket line.
You seem to have come on here bragging about what you are going to do after the strike and seem a bit peeved you haven't received any support.
I think it is a morally bankrupt position you are taking.
So far you have misattributed a quote to me. Decided why I stopped being a bad rep. Called me a loudmouth.
And I can't see anyone agreeing with you.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

The bottom line is this:
If someone crosses your picket line it is far better to look at yourself and see what more you could do,

Im sure all the reps on here must love this comment as if they have less than 100% support the strike in their office they must look at themselves even if they have done their best for weeks trying to educate people who wont strike for whatever reason.

The attitude to strike breakers is funny, I've worked at two offices, the first one everyone knew who the strike breakers were, and while people weren't openly hostile towards them, no one forgot about what they did. In that office, there was no B and H, management stuck to agreements, and there was generally a good working atmosphere.

In contrast, at my present office, strike breakers are ten a penny, no one really cares, and as soon as the strike is over, it's all forgotten. In that office B and H is rife, management routinely ignore agreements, and the Union is on the sidelines. No idea whether the two things are related.

First of all you have done nothing to defend your morally bankrupt position, a position nobody has rushed to defend.
The "look at yourself" comment was in response to your boycott of your strike breaking colleagues.
If you have done everything you possibly could, then fine. At no point did I say every rep could ensure 100% compliance with a strike call, but we can always do more. There should be no room for complacency ever.
Your "look at me, I'm the big (sub)rep deciding who I will and won't represent" attitude doesn't impress me much.

So no apology for misquoting me? No apology for calling me a strike-breaker?
And as I explained before there isn't a solve-all-the-problems with one letter solution. It depends on the individual members circumstances.
And let's remember you are the rep in a DO where people are running round dissing the union.
If you display the same arrogance in your DO as you have on here it isn't too surprising there is a gross disconnect between you and your members.

We will not rep anybody who breaks the strike, they dont deserve a rep.
You'll carry on being a good rep to half the members of your DO then.
You must wake up with a warm glow, knowing what a great job you will be doing. :cuppa

to quote a post you once made when somebody hinted the cwu/reps should use union policy to convince members to give up their free shares "all is fair in love and war". Nobody like a hypocrite. game over. :wave

I was surprised at a couple in our office planning to go in, they are going under the presumption they will get this £300 the CWU really needs some form of flyer telling why it will not get paid out. A lot now believe the propaganda about it.

i was brought up in a mining village during the 84-85 miners dispute. We had nothing but family and community support for our very survival. It saddens me the sacrifices our parents, grand parents, ancestors went through to sustain fundamental basic workers rights. They could not afford to withdraw their labour, but they did for protracted periods of time. This Royal Mail dispute is only for one day so i wish some people will just grow a pair. People who decide to go in because they might lose Sky for a month, or cannot get that takeaway or pint at the pub disgust me. If you are living from week to week then i have no complaints, but it is you who will have to face your colleagues every day, and your own conscience. i belong to no trade Union as where i am employed does not have Trade Union recognition, if it did, i will be the first in the que with my membership.

Excellent post m8 well said. I also voted yes and will be on the picket line along with about 95% of the office same on those who go to work cause in no time they will be doing the most complaining.

I think the main problem here is a lot of delivery units aren't happy and good luck if you strike but the word from a lot of mail centres is they will be going in. I think that a lot of the drivers I work with will be in except for people who just want a day off or long weekend. If this is the attitude then this strike will be short lived. I have said before the strikes won't happen and am sticking with this opinion! Remember in mail centres they can move mail from one to the other and can take all the second class away which gives overtime at one and no shift at another. If you were management were would you put the work?

The 'grow a pair' brigade seemed to continually miss the point that some are going in because they want to and are happy with the agreement - not just because of the 'money'

The more people keep going on about people growing a pair and £300 bribe and the rest, the more they any really chance of changing the mind of those going in. Show some respect for other people's opinions and convictions. Tx

Just a few days ago, some Grangemouth workers were ready to call their fellow workers strike breakers and probably ostracise them. But the people that agreed to the survival plan have now been proved right and those that were eager for a strike did not even get a chance to strike - all they have now done is grovel for their jobs and took more cr*p (warts and all) from the employer and the employer has even more money coming from the government.

So who had really had a pair: the goats or sheep that simply followed the Union and the emotional claptrap that comes with bands of brothers and all that...
