silent treatment can also account to bullying.
Technically yes.
But, no one is under any requirement to speak to any colleague, other than for business reasons.
When your job requires it, then be polite/professional and speak to the person in question.
Outside of that, they can't do a damn thing.
Besides which, we don't get time to chat anymore, as we're way too busy.
Sometimes, I wish I wasn't a Rep.

So hard working people who are grateful for a well paid job with good hours are subject to bullying?

They only have a well paid job because for the last 42 years people like me have went on strike for better conditions,a lot of the younger guys now realise just how dangerous times are with companies trying to degrade workers terms and conditions and are willing to fight, others are prepared to take what the union fights for without doing anything.

In an ideal world of course not. Just out of interest where does the applying a little pressure and bullying line lie?

I have never understood why people are grateful for a job.

Grateful - adjective - warmly or deeply appreciative of kindness or benefits received

This implies that one side has given something over to the other with no return or thought of return. When you are employed by a firm, you give your time, experience, knowledge, labour, sweat and education to help that firm. Neither side should be grateful to the other, you have come to an agreement where you give those things over and are compensated by earning a wage.

When people are really grateful its often accompanied by a phrase "I am in your debt" are we really in debt to the employer. When I got all my previous jobs, and this one, I would never have described myself as indebted to the hirer, pleased, happy maybe even proud, but grateful no. After all if they didn't want me they wouldn't have employed me, so I must have something they want and they are prepared to pay me for, so why should I be grateful if I am giving something in return.

pop it in pete wrote:Just get them to resign from the union we could all do without them in our ranks
so rather than educate them, just kick them out, so over time our membership will get smaller and smaller as we kick them out, it would mean the cwu's influence would decrease and decrease
Educate them bloody hell what do you think the cwu have been trying to do all these years? No if you don't want to be in the union, then have to balls to have the courage of your convictions get out of the union and loose your voice. Why should local reps have to fight and negotiate for them when they find themselves on a stage or conduct. Who do these people run to when the s**t hits the fan.............the local rep.
Who takes the s**t from them when negotiations are not going the way they want............the local rep.
Who has to pick up the pieces when the strike is over ..............the local rep.
Who will be asked to recruit new member and try to get the defectors back in the union ..............the local rep.
Who will be on the picket line watching these scabby XXXXs walk passed undermining negotiations ..........the local rep.

So, if you are a scab you have no place in this union. Resign and don't come back until you have learnt the error of your ways. Let decent men fight for our rights you ant worth the spit in my throat. Get out and stay out, while you at it look for another job also and compare what we have with others in the postal industry.

Rant over. :thumbup
