Angard workers to cash in on strike

Post by kingmalik »

why should Angard employees not work on strike? when the CWU arent fighting for our rights, in the end were the ones getting screwed over soon there going to terminate our contracts and give us less pay, and were just barely makings ends meat on a lucky week.

The Mail centre would find it difficult to run it without Angard employees, why haven't the CWU told the Angard workers to be part of the strike ? because they know already what's going to happen to us and we are expendable ! :arrrghhh

first I wasn't going to work on this day and now I thought there's no way its gonna change for us so might as well cash out.

'It's because of the Union negotiated wages that Angardees on AWR get the hourly rate they do. (Also some Angard workers are in the union) If workers were Agency temps for UK Mail they would still be on low wages, even after the 12 weeks, as the regulars are badly paid as well.

The only way they could pay Angard workers less in the shortish term is by flouting the AWR regulations by giving all the work to new people for six weeks, claearly AWR avoidance.

Is there any evidence they are terminating Angard contracts?
The worst scenario is that Angard close down and casuals go back to RM, then the minimum wage or whaetver RM chose to pay casuals applies.

This thread title should really read

"I (Kingmalik) am considering cashing in on the strike"

Couldn't have put it better myself. I'm struggling with severe debt right now, but there is no way in hell that I'd cross that picket line. I like the people I work with, and they have my full support during the strike.
