We hear and see that the screws are under pressure/orders from above,ok fair enough.
But some go beyond that and are very nasty pieces of work.
Yes there is a Virus in Royal mail regarding them, but some if not most of it is their own making.
I have had and seen too many dealings to feel sorry for them, let alone work with them on our troubles.
It doesn't matter anyway now as they have their deal and they WILL accept it!Back to starting orders!
Personally i don't give two f***s for most of them!

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Last year, IA was averted with a deal in June, and the impression I got was that RM would be best mates with CWU & that any future negotiations would be conducted with respect for each side's respective position & requirements & that RM would be modernised to the best advantage of the Service, and it's employees & customers ( it came about just after I joined, so I don't know if this was the usual guff fed to the membership via the union & RM ).POSTMAN wrote:We hear and see that the screws are under pressure/orders from above,ok fair enough.

My point in recalling those days last summer is after reading the above, can anyone really imagine RM will treat the managers and their weak "association" with anything less than the contempt they have shown the CWU & it's members? If you have a reply to this post, please refrain from asking if anybody should actually care - not least because we can all guess the answer.
I don't suppose your mouth bleeds every 28 days, does it?

Unless they believe their loyalty to the business means something worthwhile - something over and above our loyalty to the Service? TBH it probably does & in the wider scheme of things, derserves to be rewarded appropiately with a bonus payment or somthing.....but "appropiate reward" is not something you could hear announced from :lfo or :cfo without looking here or here before you get your reward.linkinpark wrote:Hi smokerjim like you i heard the same clap trap last year and did not believe it for one second ( must be a cynic.) RM are well overstaffed with managers about 12-13% of the workforce if any manager thinks once they have finished with us that will be the end then they are in for a big dissapointment, but most managers think the axe will fall else where and as is the nature of the beast dont much care about others. But any sane manager must know that with forty thousand job losses on our side and a very weakend and cowed workforce if we lose this dispute i truly think they will lose upto 60% of managers within five years or less. so its in there own interests to work with us and not against us but i think thats just a pipe dream.

Elastic Bands
I would love to know what idiot came up with the idea of red rubber bands - before at least we could always argue that some of the brown ones were dropped by other people - now every red one is obviously dropped by us.
No doubt he/she got a big bonus for yet another stupid idea.

The commercial reality is that RM need to modernise. We can't compete with current practices. We are losing business to the competition due to our inablity to compete on price and to offer products and services which (business) customers actually want. I haven't heard of any CWU counter proposals to the ones being put forward by the Executive. Can anyone enlighten me?
Postcomm have played a huge part in designing our current untenable set of trading conditions; is it not a better strategy to join together and fight them rather than tear our business apart from the inside?

Of couse I could. Anyone can see exactly what is needed to improve the service.Vin wrote:Intelligent response Fellow Worker.
Instead of insulting me, could you share what is that you would suggest we (the business we all work for and rely on to feed our families) do to address the decline in mail as a medium and competition?
Next question bollocks.

How about responding with a 35 hour working week and six weeks holiday - mechanisation should improve working conditions not destroy them.
How about a fair reward for what we do - Crozier seems to think his pay and pension package is ok so I'll have the same as him.
How about being treated with some dignity at work instead of being bullied into overtime and cutting corners.
How about competing on quality of service, no-one can beat us.

Talk like a screw, get treated like a screw - I don't work for a business, delivering rainforest sized mounds of shite, for soul less corparations, I work for a service, delivering the mail ( taking extra care over greetings cards ), for my customers - the people I see everyday, that have time to say hello & wave to me, maybe even have a little chat. Leighton & Crozier in their infinate wisdom ( not! ) want that attitude eradicated, as it is not efficient for the customer ( that would be Saga, SkyMag, DSA competition - not people that actually care about the service )Vin wrote:Intelligent response Fellow Worker.

Here endeth the lesson....not that any of it will sink in, sadly

Whatever we feel about management and they about us, we still have to deliver the mail.Whether it be a magazine/cheque book/birhday card. We should take care with all our mail,it puts money into our pocket and keeps the senders and recipients happy!
I think the Royal Mail is trying to do too much in one go.
Although I do not agree with everything some changes have to occur. I have no objection to switching to monthly pay.
Overtime will naturally be reduced because of mechanisation.
I still think that mail should be delivered in the morning.
I object to having less pension after working all these years. I would put more money into my pension if I would not loose out.
The Royal mail has a poor scriptwriter and should have presented these changes in a much better way.
We do not like change and this makes any type of new working very difficult. This applies to any occupation.
AS I have been reading other posts [ bearing in mind that some management DO try],
one of the problems is that Royal Mail management listen, and although what you have said needs addressing, they just
give sympathetic noises and do nothing.

Well if management attitudes ( to generalise ) didn't make us spitting mad, there would be no spittle of abuse.Ex RM Manager wrote:This Whole "MANAGEMENT ARE BLAH BLAH EVIL" really isn't the way forward to solve the Businesses problems. The validity of any points made are lost in the spittle of abuse. Shame.
