I didn't vote and I've explained why. Certainly I wasn't too lazy to vote. I read everything that came in the post from both sides. And I have to say that of either of the options, I was inclined more towards a 'no' vote than a 'yes', but could not, ultimately, bring myself to be completely disloyal to the wishes and best suggestions of the union. But I felt that the union had, once again, taken action too late. The whole time I have worked for RM, the union's actions have been a catalogue of inaction, of engaging the pertinent issues when they have either already passed, or are about to. And now that I have seen the announcement of the strike, I am even gladder that I did not vote. The faraway nature of the date just tells me everything I need to know about this union - they are merely dangling a hopeful tempter to RM in the ambition that they won't have to strike. The strike should have been at the earliest possible date, which is already too late. So yes, I will respect the union's wishes while I am a member, but that does not mean I have to agree with them. And certainly, although it is not a popular view on here, I am entitled to make my own choice. And where this union is concerned, it seems fitting that I should offer them inaction in return for theirs. May we all strike, little good it shall do us now. If we even strike at all.
