Manager Says only 4 weeks leave is Guaranteed?

Had a holiday booked on the holiday sheet since May for next week, now when we have no cover, my manager told me its cancelled as only my first 4 weeks booked are guaranteed and this was my 5th ( purchased) week , never heard this before is it legit?!

Ask him/her what bubble bath he/she likees, cos he's/she's obviously having one....I've never heard that before, but others will probably be better equipped to help good luck

you obviously have it in writing
ask him to put his quote or statement in writing dated and signed of course
and tell him you will contact him on return from booked hols
watch him squirm
oh and make sure your mates are all there to rip the pish right out of him

they cant do this, you could have had flights, hotels, activites pre booked.

If its been granted he can't cancel it........though I have heard in exceptional cases leave has been cancelled for exceptional operational needs.........if he can clarify exceptional operational needs that's far ahead he is a better manager than me......see your rep I grant leave to my staff and if things go tits up then I deal with it .......that's what I am paid for

If you have a holiday next week - he cant cancel it this week by law - he has overrun the notification procedure .

An employer can refuse a leave request but they must give as much notice as the amount of leave requested, eg 2 weeks notice if the leave requested was 2 weeks.

Contact Rep or Area Rep to get it sorted.

Thanks for the replies, Doing my head in this! She got a deputy manager to phone me last monday to try and tell me they could not cover my leave on Monday, I said I had holidays booked and he said in that case take your hols, I will see her tomorrow , I am sure she will try to say that I was given notice on Monday though, Other people have odd days booked next week too and she seems to be honouring them even though they were requested after my my leave,
