Re: ballot result
the point being we cant go out until 7 days after the ballot result is announced. some at our office (and presumably others) seem to think we'll be out a day or two after a yes vote.,,,,not the case.

Re: ballot result
What do you think will happens ? Think there will be improved counter offer from Royal Mail in next fews days after seeing the vote result, then strike could be called off.
Just hope the shares is our and no nonsense about being there for 3 years to get it.

Re: ballot result
Can I just ask about the vote. Is there a % of members who have to vote yes? Is only a majority needed, so 51% or more? And will that be just members or all of the staff? So will it have to be a majority of the entire work staff, so the members would have to make up the numbers for the non members who obv haven't voted.
Hope it makes sense what I'm asking.

Re: ballot result
Only a majority of those that vote.
The Tories want to bring in legislation to prevent strikes where less than half the workforce have voted for it.
Moya just wants legislation to prevent strikes.

The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

We just want pay, terms, conditions and an absence from bullying that means we wouldn't think of striking.clashcityrocker wrote:Only a majority of those that vote.

But I never stated otherwise.daveyeff wrote:the point being we cant go out until 7 days after the ballot result is announced. some at our office (and presumably others) seem to think we'll be out a day or two after a yes vote.,,,,not the case.
An announcement of the strike on Friday, is not the same as announcing WE WILL STRIKE ON FRIDAY.UnhappyGremlin wrote:Yes the result is set to be announced on Wednesday.
Assuming it's a yes vote, I'd expect a strike to be announced no later than Friday.
Though, probably before, I mean, why wait?
Unless RM and the CWU enter into new talks with the result in mind.....
I believe the strike will be announced tomorrow afternoon, for Saturday 26th October, and maybe Monday 28th too.
Sometimes, I wish I wasn't a Rep.

Re: ballot result
So a 78% Yes vote with the first day of strikes being the 4th November. We are also to be balloted to disregard TNT and UK Mail post. Thought this had already been declared illegal?

It would have been unlawful to boycott off the back of the consultative ballot.bobthepostie wrote:So a 78% Yes vote with the first day of strikes being the 4th November. We are also to be balloted to disregard TNT and UK Mail post. Thought this had already been declared illegal?

4th November. Not good enough. We should be taking action at the first availible opportunity and should be continued until a deal is done.

Re: ballot result
Striking on a Monday is bloody futile. Tuesday will be dead and so backlog will be cleared easily
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next
