Royal mail spin to make us look greedy before the strikes.Chelseablue wrote:BBC news,,,on the share fiasco and privatisation moya says ,,,,this is the greatest moment in my life . This time round though we should get the publics backing on this one.
Everyone knows the impact of privatization on people's jobs, especially how this privatization has been forced in.
So they will dirty up their workforce to make us look greedy over the next few weeks.

Not soon enough in the opinion of many posties, including myself.
Plus, negotiations have been going for about 6 and a half months. The deal was due on April 1st was it not. It's now mid October.
We've hardly dived straight in.
They goofed in not giving us a cost-of-living raise back in the spring. When they linked it to our T+C, they gave the union something everyone could rally around.
I'm not saying that our terms aren't extremely important. They are. It's just hard to make a cool slogan out of them. ("You can have my MTSF when you pry it out of my cold, dead, unemployed fingers!")

Any one know where greene lives, maybe she needs a couple of thousand p+ssed of posties camped outside her door on strike days to finally get the message that we have had enough. Any reason why we can,t.

If she really has said ''we need protection from our people'' and hasn't been misquoted I'm amazed more isn't being made of it... as far as industrial relations go that's one of the most divisive and inflammatory statements I've ever heard!

It seems that is what she said. A really poor choice of words even if I do agree with the sentiment behind it i.e that management and unions have to find a way to move the company forward without the constant threat of strike action.wacko74 wrote:If she really has said ''we need protection from our people'' and hasn't been misquoted I'm amazed more isn't being made of it... as far as industrial relations go that's one of the most divisive and inflammatory statements I've ever heard!

Constant threat of strike action? What are you on about! This company was supposed to have agreed a pay deal in APRIL,
it's now October do the math.
Without the union's influence we would be open to the whims of people who's main aim is to fill their pockets quickly and get out, ie Leighton and Crozier!
The top management showed their real commitment to Royal Mail when they all stuffed their snouts into the shares trough. I thought the flotation was about raising private cash all I have seen is a free for all from financial institutions who have already made millions!
The last IA brought about an agreement lasting 3 years which saw closures of MCs and a structured strategy to modernise.
This management team was not bothered to address the workers concerns this year because they wanted to see how well off they would be in the near future.
A deal needs to be struck which ensures that Mora and her team don't sell jobs down the river for a quick return for all those financial institutions. She has already hinted that prices WILL rise, no suprise there then!
In the end who would you trust to look after your pay and working conditions? Those who try to get you the best deal they can or those who see you as a cost!

....and which way would that be...that management and unions have to find a way to move the company forward without the constant threat of strike action

Good question but somehow it needs to be done.

Dave Ward was threatening strike on a range of issues in March. My favourite was when he said we want a new way of management and union working together and if we don't get it we'll ballot for a strike. So much for a new way of working.pcb wrote:Constant threat of strike action? What are you on about! This company was supposed to have agreed a pay deal in APRIL,

To be honest I don't know what you're on about regarding the IPO. Tha management bought shares - so what? Plenty of posties did the same. And some of those "financial institutions" you talk about are pension funds and investment providers that benefit the likes of you and me.
