The UK is becoming very London-centric in both its politics and funding.It's understandable in a way but it's also very divisive.
That's no reflection on the majority of the people of London because the Capital itself is split between the haves and the barely surviving.
If I was in the North of England I would probably feel even more disenfranchised than I do as a Scot.At least I have my national identity and a semblance of devolved government whereas those in the North of England are simply given plattitudes by the London government(Labour or Tory) and not much else.

the worrying thing for me is the rise of UKIP in England they are just a well funded Bnp with better fitting suits .... England seems to be going right wing whilst we are going more left wing ..... by in large to me this is the problem with the UK ... the divergence of political philosophy between Scotland and the Rest of the UK

Well that's pretty incisive ft, but in the many years I have been back in the North, 40, the people seem to be inured to the fact that, health, pay, entertainment and cultural benefits (museums, art galleries etc) are in London, paid for by the many for the few, and in the North of England, described I believe by a Tory as a wasteland, we get fracked.

Well we have no other choice than the LABOUR PARTY it has changed as too enough is a debating point I would rather vote for a far left party but there is none worthy of my vote as of yet.

That would depend on the EU status of both countries.
If they are both EU members there is freedom of movement.

Good point and that's why my scouse pals settled in Scotland are ardent supporters of independence and will vote yes without any hesitation.

Regarding the postal service in remote and rural areas in Scotland I think there needs to be some clever thinking and maybe a dual role as postman and other community work could be a model worth looking into,it was always that way in the rurals in the 70s and ive heard stories of the postie dropping off a nae well sheep at the vets and picking up some medicine and of course the community taxi/bus service that Royal Mail has phased out etc etc
